Kindfull FAQ

What ingredients are used in Kindfull products?

Ingredients are thoughtfully selected for all Kindfull products. Ingredient safety is paramount, and we also established ingredient standards based on what our pet parents told us what they want and don’t want for their pets.

For all products, Kindfull ingredient standards include: No artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, No by-product meals, and No corn, wheat or soy. Additionally, real beef, poultry (chicken or turkey), or fish is the first ingredient in all dog & cat foods, dry toppers, and jerky treats, and you won’t find carrageenan in any wet foods.

Will Kindfull dog and cat foods meet my pet’s nutrition needs?

Yes. All Kindfull dry and wet foods are carefully formulated to meet or exceed the nutrient profiles established by AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials). These research-based standards specify the nutrients and levels necessary to support a pet’s health by life stage. When selecting a food, read labels carefully and make sure to review the Nutritional Statement and Feeding Guidelines.

The Nutritional Statement tells the life stage for which the food’s nutritional levels were formulated. Nutrient and energy (calorie) needs vary substantially across life stage – for example, puppies need different nutrition than adult dogs to support their growth and development. The Kindfull assortment includes foods that can be used for maintenance (adult dogs and cats), growth (puppies and kittens), and gestation and lactation (pregnant and nursing females). If the Nutritional Statement says “for all life stages” the food can be used for maintenance, growth, and gestation or lactation.

The Feeding Guidelines provide guidance on the amount to feed your pet by life stage. Adjust food intake accordingly based on your pet’s needs.

Kindfull also offers foods to support special pet needs, like weight management and digestive health.

Consult your veterinarian if you have questions about your pet’s health.

How much should I feed my dog or cat?

Feeding guidelines are included on all Kindfull packages. Food intake needs vary depending on your pet’s age, activity, and environment. Feed more or less to maintain optimum body condition for your pet. Also, make sure your pet always has access to fresh, clean water.

How do I introduce or transition my pet to a new food?

Throughout your pet’s life, there will be many times when you will change their food. This may be because they are getting older, or they have new health or nutrition needs, or because you decide to introduce a new flavor or a new brand, like Kindfull.

No matter the reason, a gradual transition is important. This helps your dog or cat slowly adjust and will decrease the likelihood of issues, like stomach upset.

We recommend transitioning over 7 days. On days 1-2, feed a combination of 25% new food and 75% current food. On days 3-4, feed a combination of 50% new food and 50% current food. On days 5-6, feed 75% new food and 25% current food. On day 7 and beyond, feed 100% new food.

For example, if you are currently feeding your dog 1 cup of food at each meal: On days 1-2, feed ¼ cup new + ¾ cup current. On days 3-4, feed ½ cup new + ½ cup current. On days 5-6, feed ¾ cup new + ¼ cup current. On day 7 and beyond, feed 1 cup of new food.

If your dog or cat doesn’t seem to like the taste or texture of the new food, or is having stomach upset, slow down the transition and extend it over more days. Also, talk to your veterinarian for advice.

What does Veterinarian-Guided Nutrition mean?

All Kindfull foods, treats, and toppers are developed by scientists and pet food experts with training and experience in areas like pet food product development, manufacturing, nutrition, food safety, quality, and regulations. The "Veterinarian-Guided Nutrition" icon is used on products developed by experts with nutrition guidance from a veterinarian. This applies to all items, except certain canned foods. Check labels for the icon to indicate products that were developed with nutrition guidance from a veterinarian. Some areas of advice included nutrient levels, functional health benefits, and feeding guidelines.

What are treat meal toppers?

Kindfull Meal Toppers can be added to your cat’s or dog’s meal to help boost flavor and texture, and to make mealtime even more enjoyable. Great for picky eaters or just as a little treat, simply pour the recommended amount over their usual food and serve. Kindfull toppers are available in both wet and dry versions, with 4 different flavors of each.

Toppers can be placed on top of or mixed into food. Similar to treats, these are intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding. They should not be used to entirely replace wet food or dry food since they do not provide complete and balanced nutrition.

How long can I keep canned food?

Opened, unused canned food should be stored in the refrigerator and used within 3-5 days. It is important to clean your pet’s bowl of any unused portion of canned food after 4 hours. For unopened cans, reference the “Best By” date on the bottom of the can.

How long can I keep dry food?

For best quality, reference the “Best By” date on the back of the package.

How long can I keep meal treat toppers?

If you have topper left over, the unused portion should be stored in the refrigerator and used within 3-5 days.

How should I store dry food once the package is opened?

Re-seal the opened bag and store in a cool, dry place away from direct light and off the floor to prevent potential infestation.

How should I store opened cans of wet food?

Opened cans of wet food should be stored in the refrigerator to maintain moisture, limit exposure to air, and avoid odors. It is best to cover with a plastic lid or wrap.

Can I return Kindfull if my pet doesn’t like it?

We recommend guests follow the 7-day transition schedule to adjust their pets to their new Kindfull diet. However, if a guest is not fully satisfied for any reason, we offer a 1-year return policy from purchase.
