Lois, You can power it at least two ways. 1. Leave the Try Me Button, connected, if you have small children you want to let them power it for a few seconds. 2. Unplug Try Me, install batteries., and run as directed. 3. You can't have but at some time, at least not mine. 4.make sure batteries are fresh and inserted correctly. 5. Make sure batteries are exactly as directed , no rechargeable ones or outdated ones. It's best to buy ones that show a 10 year shelf life on package. Hope this helps! A fellow Customer Sherwood

This Santa in Truck music box is adorable. The car is metal and is larger than I expected especially for the price. Nice solid quality piece and music softly played. Santa could have been a little cuter but it doesn't take away from the charm of the music box. This will be a Xmas gift for my son next year and his kids will enjoy it also ( he has a red truck).
