Lands' End Women's Starfish Mid Rise Knit Denim Straight Jeans

This is the 2nd pair of these that I have ordered. I returned the first pair because they were extremely long and I thought maybe they had been sized incorrectly. I decided to try another pair because I have been wearing the OLD style of Starfish jeans for years and years and my several pairs are wearing out. I am keeping this second pair because I need pants, but they are AWFUL. 1. They are way too long, way longer than the old style even though they are the same size. 2. The fabric is very flimsy and the fit is just somehow 'off' in a way I can't describe. They just don't hang correctly. 3. There is a chemical smell that does not want to go away. I have washed them twice, hung them outside on a chair in the sun for two full days, and also laid them out on my lawn in the sun for an entire day. I am wearing these pants right now as I type; I have had them on for about two hours, and the smell is so bad it is unbearable and literally giving me a headache. I cannot recommend these pants and am not sure they are going to be of any use to me. I might be able to wear them outside in the garden and hope the chemical smell eventually dissipates. I am very very disappointed that Lands End has not responded in a positive way to the many, many bad reviews these pants have gotten since they changed the style and fabric. I was really hoping that the pants would be ok if not great, but they are simply awful. Just awful.

Overall I do like these jeans, but wish they had belt loops. After a couple times wearing them they start to get loose;

I bought these jeans in size small and they are way too long. Usually LE gives you a choice between 30 and 31 And these are 31 1/2. I love the soft light weight material they would be perfect for the spring and summer!

I bought this jean because I am older and love elastic waist pants/jeans. They feel comfortable. However, I am extremely disappointed that the pockets are not deep enough to hold my iPhone 11 pro-Max. I wish that manufacturers would make women's pants with pockets that are deep as men's. I prefer not carrying a purse all the time but with this pair of jeans I will be forced to in order to keep my phone secure.

I have washed these 4 times and they still reeked of mothballs. I see complaints about this going back MONTHS. You'd think it would have been fixed by now!

Please bring pack the demin leggings from last year the slimmer elastic waist no pocket leggings fit great thank you

These knit jeans are unwearable, due to a strong chemical odor that won't wash out. There are reviews with comments about this going back months, but clearly the problem still hasn't been fixed. I would skip these.

I must have bought 20 pairs in various colors. I’m happy to say they wash well, wear well and travel well as they are lighter/thinner than regular denim. I just roll them up in my suitcase and they come out looking no worse for packing. Sizing MT has been consistent across my purchases. I am between a regular and tall in inseam but need Tall for the rise.

I am so disappointed in my last pair of these jeans. I have been buying these jeans for several years and I loved them. So comfortable and subtle. The company has switched the fabric to one with less cotton and they aren't near as nice. They snag very easily and have a very polyester appearance. They also stretch more and slide down so that my usual size doesn't fit as well. I'd be willing to pay more for the old design! I really got my money's worth from them.

I really liked the old version that was more than 95% cotton. Adding the polyester makes the pants less durable and they snag easily. Who ever heard of jeans snagging?? The style and fit has also changed for the worse. Please bring back the cotton versions.

These were always my favorite jeans in recent years- until this last purchase. The horrific odor emanating from the medium sea blue Starfish jeans is not only nauseating- but embarrassing. I tried soaking in vinegar and washed them 4 times without wearing, and the odor will NOT go away. I thought I had succeeded in ridding the odor, until I put them on yesterday and there it was! It seems the odor is “heat activated” from my body. It’s disgusting! My husband could even smell it and told me to throw the jeans away. I am heartbroken. I need to find new pants from somebody else that fit this well. :(

Cut very wide thru hip/seat, too large in waist, I always buy Lands End Medium Tall but these run really wide through the waist/hip/butt?!?!?!

I really do like these jeans. I like the fit and stretch, however I am pretty tired of the terrible smell. I have previously brought this to LE attention but it is still an issue. I find it concerning that it still isn’t being addressed with QA. I have washed my most recent pair 3 times and they are still embarrassingly smelly. Not to mention it stank up my other laundry. Buyer beware.

Inconsistent sizing. I ordered two pairs in two different colors. One is much longer than the other. Both are marked the same size. The material is very soft and comfortable but it snags on EVERYTHING.

Smelled so musty when I opened the bag there was no way I could keep them. What a shame, because I did try them on and they would probably have been a keeper, although seemed a bit too long.

I bought 2 pair/ one darker and one lighter. The material is really nice/color is as expected. They are very high rise however. Normally I wear a Lands End Tall pant but these are longer in the leg, which normally I would just hem, however because they have such a high rise (they come up over my ribs), they will just work their way back down. I gave them to my DIL to use as maternity pants-much better suited for that. Were it not for this I would give them a 4 or 5.

The petite length is listed as 29”, I measured the inseam at 30” on the petite XL. Just an inch, but the difference between full length and walking all over the hem. Also not really cut like the slim leg starfish pants, the legs are wider and not especially flattering.

The first pairs i loved, the last 2 pair i bought have so many snags in the material, they are only good for gardening now. If i knew the material that they were made of has once again improved, I may buy them again….

I like the fabric and these are very comfortable but they don't fit at all as described. The waist and hips fit true to size but the legs are much wider than the photo implies, and they are about four inches too long. I have several other Starfish knit trousers in Petite and this model is the only one I have this issue with.

The fit is perfect and the jean is soft. Makes for a perfect jean.
