I recently bought this to pain my front door. What a waste of money? Almost every brush stroke left bristles in my pain job. What a waste of time and money!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Purdy Nylox - Glide paint brush has been a staple in our family for decades. As third-generation painters, we’ve relied on this brush for precision, durability, and the smoothest finish possible. It's not just a tool—it’s a tradition. Every member of our family (10+ people) has received this brush as a birthday gift, passing down the craftsmanship from one generation to the next. Whether it’s tackling detailed trim work or large surface areas, the Nylox - Glide has never let us down. It’s been with us through countless projects, and we can’t imagine painting without it. Highly recommended!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tried many brushes before, contractor brand, Wooster, Picasso, even the other purdy brands. But THIS brush. Is by far the best brush, leaves no bristle marks behind. Doesn’t shed and when it drys it leaves the smoothest finish! Worth every penny.

Bristles keep falling out

I love Purday brushes very much, and have had no issues with their standard paint brushes, and in fact have used them for years. I bought this brush yesterday and used it for the first time today. I'm brushing a outdoor metal rail with exterior latex paint and bought this brush hoping it might give me a smoother finish. Bristles are constantly falling out, to the point where the brush is practically unusable. So I'm not sure if I just got a bad brush or this is typical for this type. I'm very disappointed with this and cannot recommend this brush specifically to others.

I am currently doing a remodel in my home. Yesterday i went out and bought this brush to paint my new trim. As i was painting the first piece i noticed a bristle laying in the paint so i picked it out and didnt think much of it. Well as time went on i noticed more. I picked multiple bristles out of almost every piece of trim i painted. It was very annoying. I am satisfied with the smooth finish of the paint this brush makes but picking bristles out of the paint is something i should not be doing with a purdy brush!

I'm a 32 year old woman from Indianapolis. I've had this 2 1/2" nylox glide brush ever since I stole it from my dad's work truck when I was 10. I don't recall it ever shedding bristles, or if so, it was before I got a hold of it. I use it for all my projects, I clean it well, although not spotlessly, and not in boiling water. Its been the perfect brush, always leaves a great finish, holds lots of paint without dripping, the tip of the bristles have stayed thick, and they bind together without strays. Easy to use for cutting in, trim, filling in small divets. I'm never giving it up. Unless my kid steals it from me one day.

I work for a professional painting company in Colorado on high-end, million dollar homes. We use Purdy Nylox brushes for the majority of our projects, which includes both interior and exterior painting/staining. Honest to god, these are the ONLY brushes we use for water-based paints and stains. These brushes are incredible. Most brushes will have a little breakage, this is mostly due to rough handling and cleaning of brushes. To date, I have never had an issue with pieces of this brush breaking off while painting. I assume this is because of what the bristles are made out of, which will stay incredibly soft and pliable when taken care of. Recently I used this brush to paint ship-lap with a luxuriously thick, satin finish paint. The paint dried completely smooth with no lines left by the brush. I am purchasing several for my DIY work at home. It is truly a great brush for anyone.
Shed bristles

My nylox glide shed bristles too. I have been painting cabinets that I built. I have used the brush with primer and with semi gloss trim paint. I haven't used it with a water based poly yet. Each time I have used the brush it has shed bristles. Very frustrating. So far I have counted about 10 bristles that have either come out in the paint on my project or were half way out and needed to be pulled out so it wouldn't end up in my painted project. I have been using Purdy brushes for over 10 years and this one is by far is the worst one. All of my other brushes have worked out really good. When the Nylox brush isn't shedding bristles I like how it works and I am satisfied with the finish.
