Q&A(5)

Q: How soft is the rug? Can kids crawl around on it?

submitted by CabinMaine - 5 years ago
  • A: This rug is made from all natural, hand spun golden jute. Jute is a beautiful natural fiber and is softer than sisal (which is rougher, scratchier) but not as soft as tufted wool or polypropylene. The knots are tight making for a durable woven area rug but might not be the soft, plush area rug for naked babies to roll around on you might be searching for.

Q: The color of the first picture looks very different from the other pictures. One is light with golden tones and the other is more dark brown. So which color will it be?

submitted by rug shopper - 7 years ago
  • A: There are two color options: Light Brown and Neutral. If you hover over the color options (black circles around each color rug on the right side of the page) and click on them you will see each option pretty clearly.

Q: Does this rug shed a lot?

submitted by Andi - 7 years ago
  • A: Jute is a natural fiber and all natural fibers will break down and shed to some degree. I have had this rug in my dining room under our dining room table for a few years now and it hardly sheds. I vacuum the hardwood floors around it every other week and I hardly notice any fibers around it.

Q: Is there backing on the rug so that it doesn't slip?

submitted by Sandra - 7 years ago
  • A: No, this rug has no backing. It's pretty heavy so I doesn't do a lot of moving but you could surely get a rug pad to help keep it in place.

Q: How do you clean this rug? I am looking at the Neutral color and have 2 boys, so I'm looking for a rug that I like but that is durable and be cleaned easily!

submitted by Rachel - 7 years ago
  • A: This rug is quite durable and fairly easy to clean. The natural variation in yarn color in this style means that some dirt and tough stains will be obscured from view. However it is a fact that natural fiber rugs don't clean as well as synthetic fiber rugs. But they are healthier for your home and woven on vintage handlooms using traditional techniques so they are so much cooler! Our cleaning instructions are as follows: Vacuum regularly with suction only. A beater brush is not recommended. Blot liquid spills immediately by pressing a clean, undyed cloth into the spill to absorb as much liquid as possible. For solid stains, use the dull edge of a knife to scrape the solid up as much of possible and then follow the instructions for liquid spills.
