Terrible quality rattan

I bought this chair a few months ago a loved the look of it when it arrived, although I noticed right away that the rattan was not good quality. Fibers were sticking out of the weave. We hardly sat on it until family visited us during the holidays and we started actually using the chair. The rattan started falling apart in two days of continuous use. We first noticed white powder from the rattan accumulating under the chair and the seat itself started sagging. Soon there were two deep dents in the rattan. It will likely fall apart if we continue to use it. So now I am faced with the expensive proposition of getting the rattan replaced or upholstering the chair or the environmentally irresponsible one of trashing it. I would not recommend buying this unless you love the design but do not plan on really sitting on it. The wood frame seems to be of okay quality, but that does not really help when the chair itself has become unusable and an eye sore.

GORGEOUS chair, but the cane on it is rough and uncomfortable. Visually this chair is everything I wanted. I was looking for N accent chair that wasn’t just the basic fabric and wood one everyone seems to have. I’ve always been a lover of all cane everything. So I went for this chair instead of something more traditional and when I took it out of the box I gasped. I was so excited. It was beautiful. It was exactly what I wanted. The wood was a beautiful color and I loved the lines of the chair. But then I sat on it and it essentially felt like sitting on a bail of hay because the cane was rough and jagged in some places. I wonder if there is a way to seal it and make it smoother but that might not be worth it. You could definitely throw a blanket or a cushion over it and use it that way because there is nothing wrong with the rest of the chair itself. It’s sturdy and the height and angle of the back are comfortable. I’m so sad to have to return this.
