Q: does this bed have slats for holding the mattress? To add a support board (bunkie board) to help support mattress/movement (active 2 year old), what size support board would I need for this bed?

A: Hi Michele, Thank you for your interest in the Harrisburg Toddler Bed. The bed is made using a combination of pine wood, MDF (medium density fiberboard), and birch plywood. We use stains and paints depending on the color that you choose. Have a great day!

Q: Can the safety rails be moved into different positions or are they meant to stay in the middle of the bed, like the picture?

The bed rails are the safest I’ve seen anywhere because of where they’re positioned. However, this toddler bed was 7 months old, and the paint has been coming off all over the place. Now, I have a 2 year old who sleeps in that bed and that is BEYOND UNSAFE for anyyyyyy child. Even if it is led free, it’s still paint and that is NOT safe to eat. Couldn’t return it as I’ve had it for 7 months but I did get my money back. Now I have to find a new toddler bed. Such a shame cause I really loved this one…as did my son. Even the cribs used for my son and daughter had paint on it and it never flaked or chipped off! I’ve never had an issue like this before. Now to find a BETTER & SAFER bed for him to sleep in. So disappointed!!

This was the perfect bed to transition my toddler from a crib to a bed. I love that he can establish independence getting in and out of bed, but still have the safety rails so he doesn't roll out. This was very easy to put together. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Assembly was great. Very clear instructions. Holes were aligned. The only thing is what they call espresso is not what others call espresso. This is more light brown as others have noted. I don’t mind the color though.

Really love this bed! first and formost, really smart to put the safery rail in the middle of the bed. For our oldest son, we had a toddler bed from some other company and the safety rail was small and mounted to the headboard. Our son would scoot down in his bed and fall out. This bed keeps him safe and asleep throughtout the night.

I chose the espresso colored bed for my son, to match the rest of the bedroom set. When we opened the box, the bed is definitely not espresso, it is a light brown color. Definitely misleading. I am going to go ahead and keep it, because I like the design of the bed with the rails in the middle, but be warned, it is definitely not espresso.

We’re happy with this first “big bed” for our toddler, I chose it because I liked that the side rails were on both sides and in the middle. We were missing a piece in our box, but customer service was easy and quick to work with. It was simple enough for one adult to put together on their own.
