ALPS Mountaineering Camp Creek Two-Room Tent

The basic premise is pretty simple. 3 fiberglass poles (2 black, 1 grey) go through sleeves on the top and connect into plastic pieces. Easy right? Wrong! This part takes the longest of the entire set up. Trying to fit the poles into the plastic pieces without snapping one is the challenge here. As each pole goes in, it makes things much tighter fitting. By the time you get to the 2nd and 3rd poles, the poles have an incredible amount of flex to them to the point of almost snapping (which would be very bad). If you can get past this step things go more smoothly, but without doing this you'll have a heck of a time. It took us several tries to make these top 3 supporting poles fit. This is probably the 3rd or 4th tent we've set up, so inexperience isn't the problem. The design is just bad. The zippers are another point of contention. Most tents have two zippers that can go the full length of the door. This has a very odd 2 zipper system. One goes only along the bottom track while the other goes the rest of the door. So there's no way to open the entire door in one fluid motion, you'd need to switch to the other zipper. Why this design, I have no idea. At first I thought maybe it doesn't snag as much, but that isn't the case.

My family and I love this tent! It's nice to be able to stand up straight, and there is lots of internal storage. The room divider works well. It keeps out water pretty well, we got through a big Arizona thunderstorm with just a small puddle in one corner of the tent. I'd recommend practicing putting up the fly a few times in the daytime and when it's not raining. It's easy enough to set up with just two people. Love this tent, thanks for a great product!

Pros: Easy to set up, roomy Cons: center divider doesn't go to the floor (too much tension), burn marks in 3 of 4 walls AND the floor, and it's brand new. Result: returned, won't buy again
