Q: Does the board have a protective coating on its surface? It does not feel like natural wood to the touch and after several weeks of use I’ve oiled it and it is not soaking in oil like I’m used to.

A: Hi Maija, I don't know for sure, but it sort of smells like they've coated the boards with linseed oil. As long as it's not boiled linseed oil then it should be fine for use.

Owned this cutting board set for 2 weeks and the wood is already shaving off. Found wood shavings in our food and had to throw out! My husband is a professional chef and said these are such a hazard!

After washing, I noticed a chemical smell, so I looked at the packaging & website and noticed there is o-xylene on the boards (can't believe I didn't check that beforehand). O-oxylene is an entirely UNSAFE chemical, which would leach into food. You should not use this for chopping food (especially acidic items). If you were to keep these, use them only for cheese trays & make sure you put cheese paper or parchment down. It's not worth it to keep these for me. They seem otherwise sturdy & look attractive, but one star for being a food prep item that is not being food safe.

Despite following care instructions, my boards got pretty bad in a week’s time. They completely faded and grew mold on the sides. Target customer service was so kind and refunded me, but I would not recommend buying these cutting boards if you plan to use them regularly.

Its very aesthetically pleasing, great deal and everything. But after a couple of uses it wears fast. colors wear off, turns white and it is easily marked by the knife. It sucks. The smaler one randomly broke on me too. It needs to be better quality

We got these in all sizes for our wedding gift. I was really stoked as we cook a lot at home. Unfortunately, the knife marks stay engraved int this board to wear the wood on the top is almost completely off. Additionally, one is starting to crack. We care for it as it should be, but already we've had to get rid of one.

These boards are the worst purchase I have ever made. Less than 6 months and they have completely warped, and I have no idea why. Not even funtional at this point. they also smell funny like toxic glue or some kind of chemical

While I loved the style and size of the cutting boards. Both of them arrived with a giant crack that went all the way through to the board. Having cracks like that in a cutting board is highly unsanitary so unfortunately, I had to return them.
