About this item

Highlights

  • How To Play: Draw cards with an “old” and “redeem” prompt. Players move their avocado pieces up and down their “Path To Getting Old” card based on if they’ve said or done what’s listed on the prompt. For example, if you’ve ever scrolled Spotify’s top 100 list and thought to yourself, “Who the hell are these people?” you have to move up a space on the Path To Getting Old.
  • Designed for aging millennials ready to embrace their inner senior citizen.
  • Gather around with your side parts, skinny jeans, and craft beers while you laugh at all the things you and your aging friends say/do now while competing to retain some semblance of your youth.
  • For ages 18-45. Best played with 3+ players.
  • What’s Inside: Each game contains 300 cards, 6 “Path To Getting Old” cards, and 6 avocado pieces.

Description

Have you ever scrolled Spotify’s top 100 list and thought to yourself, “Who the hell are these people?” or said, “8pm is too late to start a movie”? If so, then gather around with your side parts, skinny jeans, and craft beers because it’s time to play “You’re Getting Old”, a party game that proves age is just a number... but sometimes that number is higher than you'd like it to be.

Each turn, a card is drawn with both an “old” and ""redeem"" prompt. If you've said or done what's listed on the ""old"" prompt, you move your avocado piece down one space on your “path to getting old” card. Congratulations, you're one step closer to the finish line... or should we say ""the end of the line.""

But don't worry, there's a glimmer of hope! If you've said or done what's listed on the ""redeem"" prompt, you get to move back a space. It's a small victory, but it's a reminder that you still have some youth left in you.

The player who reaches the end of the path first is the loser, and the player closest to the start wins, but let's be real, you're all losers in this game.

You're Getting Old is perfect for your next game night with friends or family, a party, or social event!

They should stop printing this game immediately. I don’t think it was made for millennials or anyone with an ounce of awareness, fire all the writers please. The scenarios were very specific and not relatable.

Not funny at all. The product came nowhere close to the potential for laughs. The game could just state: List your ages in chronological order. Anyone over 20 loses. Anyone under 18 will never move beyond start. We played 2uth ages 12-49 and none of us laughed or even chuckled once. Just a poorly executed idea.

I played this with my husband one night. It’s fun and we had some good laughs. Might be better with more people though. It’s pretty quick too.

Difficult wording, really for older people

Not my favorite, alot of the cards were worded very weird and not specific. My older family members had trouble understanding what it was asking and there are alot of big words used, if your not very knowledgeable of the words it ruins the game and alof us had confused faces when having to read the card. Gave it two stars because my family played a few rounds, but the younger ones who wanted to try didn't want to stick around, it got boring. I sadly will be returning because I know I wouldn't play this again.

    Nasty Game

Neice brought this to our family Thanksgiving. She should have been more thorough in reading about it before purchasing and thinking it'd be fun! The cards to read some are fine but many are just plain nasty! We had 14 yr. olds actually playing it and present. Responses are nasty! Games DO NOT need to have such things in them to make them fun. A waste of money and game makes people very uncomfortable which a game should not!!! Read up on a game thoroughly before purchase.

OMG!! Funny! I'm not a millennial but I can still have fun playing this game. It was a 30th birthday gift for my friend and she definitely gets a kick out if it. It's one of those simple card/thinking games that gets you laughing. I think it said best for 18-45 years but it all depends on the person. It's a lot of fun and a good value for the laughs.

Doesn't make sense, most Old things listed aren't even pertinent. Had my family over yesterday and they made fun of its stupidness.

Great game! I primarily bought it to poke fun of my partner who turned 40 (they’re slightly older than me) and when we played it proved that they are getting older bc they didn’t understand some of it LOL

There are some repeats which is annoying. Also it's way too short. We got to the end in like 20 minutes. We could probably just keep going and reuse the score card, but didn't. There were some pleasant memories. We played with 3 people born in 1981 and 1982. It was targeted well for us.

    Cute idea

I expected this game to be more fun than it was. We were having a great time playing Taboo and then switched to this…the energy level dropped almost immediately, there wasn’t ‘competition’ amongst the group and everyone left right after someone got to the end. Could be okay for the first game of the night, but I won’t be pulling this out again for some time.

This game is all pop culture references (as I expected) but it is too niche and is dated. We played for ~10 minutes and quit. Just wasn’t fun.

Be prepared to have debates regarding each card’s verbiage as if you were serving on the Supreme Court on the merits of Originalism vs Textualism.

Some of the questions are funny, but some are out of date or don’t make sense to count as old or young. Overall it was fun if you don’t think about it much.

I did not find the game to be as fun as some of the reviews implied it would be. It's fine and can generate some laughs but mostly fell flat. I agree with other reviews that it is better as a conversation starter than playing the actual game.
