I have, in the past year or so, purchased the 32 oz can for about $12 when on sale and combined with a coupon. Then the regular price jumped to $15....$16...now $19. Absolutely not.

All the reviews shown are incentivized, i e they gave free coffee to “influencers” or another way of looking at it, they tried to bribe people. I say this because my previous honest review wasn’t published. As a long time, decades, cafe Bustello drinker (writing for my wife) I wrote to criticize the CEO (Smucker) who was quoted glibly and gleefully proclaiming that coffee is a pass thru commodity, meaning they can increase the price to the consumer as needed with seemingly no consideration. With the increasing retail price at my supermarket I would consider other options.

The last two containers I’ve bought have been rancid and poured extremely bitter shots. Had to throw them all out. I don’t know if they’ve changed suppliers, changed the grind consistency, but it’s definitely not worth the cost now.

Café Bustelo is just the best coffee. Target is not the best company however. Three years ago the price for the 36 ounce jar at target was $11.99. It is now $17.60. There is no justification for price fixing and price gouging. I’m sure I’m not alone in my disgust for record profits taken at our expense.

I had always liked Cafe Bustelo because it was a local product and authentic to its Cuban roots. Recently, I noticed that the brand was bought out by mega-conglolmerate J.M. Smucker Company and the package doesn't list the origin of the coffee or where the product is produced. I am led to believe that this is another brand that has sold its soul to the corporate world and is being mass produced in some third-world country. Shame!
