Q: Is the height from the very top of the metal frame? I'd like to know the height from the mattress bottom.

A: See this website Then click “size” tab It has all critical dimensions I’m considering this for 9 y/o grandson Looks like 58” high mattress platform + 8” thick matress = 66” Thus it gives the 30” of recommended clearance to 96” high ceiling that was recommended on another website that builds loft/study beds for college dorms http://www.dhpfurniture.com/eng/Products/Bedroom/Bunk-Beds/Details/3708-4016

Great bed, my Daughter loves it, BUT the major downfallis the ladder. A ladder should not hurt the kids feet! The ladder roles are too skinny to be even a little bit comfortable to use.

My son is so excited about his loft bed. My husband said the set up wasn't hard; it was just took awhile to bolt everything in. Ours was missing one of the slats that supports the mattress. We are going to call and see if it can be replaced. The bed squeaks some when he climbs up, but it's great otherwise. Size-wise it is perfect: tall without being too tall. My son loves the built-in desk and bookshelf. We bought a Room Essentials chair from Target that works perfectly with it!

This bed is very nice, however it squeaks whenever she moves around in the bed .Overall my daughter loves it, its keeps the room tidy and it brings everything together.

Easy to set up! Shelves are slide through not shove in, lol. Great for my 10 year old! We love all the shelves, for displaying legos. Desk is super for quiet homework time.

Daughter is the happiest camper ever. Enjoys the space underneath to do her homework and crafts. Shelves also give her plenty of space to store her items. Loves to climb up and down-and I'm happy because she no longer snoozes the alarm :) On the installation.-Follow the instructions-even if you think you can figure it out

Exactly what we needed, sturdy, and easy to assemble, too. We bought 2 to save space, and give our girls their 'own space', because they share a room. They are very pleased. Having a desk and bookshelf built in is also a big bonus.
