A: In general, we recommend using Dr. Bronner’s body care products within three years of the manufacture date. Soaps are self-preserving, but it’s best to not leave them on the shelf for too long. Also, the soaps are good for 24 months after opening the product, within that 3 year window. To find out when our personal care products were manufactured, you can consult the “lot code." The first digits refers to the year (i.e., “18” is 2018, “20” is 2020, etc.), while the next three digits refer to the day of the year out of 365 total days. So if the first five digits of a lot code are “17165,” the product was manufactured in 2017 on the 165th day of that year (June 14th). You can always search for a Julian date calendar for the specific year that your bottle was manufactured in online. For your bottle, the "18" correlates to the manufacturing year of 2018, however, the "787" most likely is "181" as 787 exceeds the 365 days in a year. In any case, as this product had a shelf life of 2021 and it has been 2+ years past the best-by date, we would recommend discarding the product unless you prefer to use this just for general household cleaning.

Arrived broken/spilled. Target will not exchange the order because 2 of my last 3 deliveries were delivered to the wrong house. The house number in the delivery confirmation photos isn’t even close to correct - those house numbers are not even in my neighborhood. But since those items had to be “replaced,” Target won’t allow an exchange of this product to be initiated, even though these arrived sticky and with soap leaked out. I even sent in photos of how my box arrived with the soap leaked all the way through the box and they declined a return. Target has previously been my favorite place to shop but after my experiences this week, I don’t know how much I trust their customer service or TLMD delivery. Buy this elsewhere where your items will be packed with better care.

Love it for hands, not for hair, though. My hard water does cause it to leave a sort of residue on the hands, but doesn't bother me at all. I think this is helping my very dry skin, especially in the winter cold. I had intended to use for my hair, but it just takes way too much product to suds and clean enough with the hard water (I use the bar soap instead and have had great luck there).

I love this soap! The scent is so lovely and natural. Leaves my skin smooth and not dry but not greasy either. And it’s a great shampoo too. Glad it comes in a gallon size.
