I really like the design of this shelf, I think it gives a nice change in shape to floating shelves. I purchased this so that I could display my small figurines so I knew the weight burden on it would be pretty low. I'd take that into consideration when looking for the right shelf for you. The shelf come disassembled where each of the squares have notches in the back for you to slide them into each other in the position as described in the manual. I actually found that switching the two largest squares' spots made the assembly easier as they weren't fitting together as it's described in the manual. I also noticed that even after sliding them into each other completely, the shelves are not all aligned on the back side completely, some parts stick out more than others so it's not going to be flush against the wall. (It rocks back and forth just a tiny bit if you push it) The shelves also come with a set of screws and anchors for mounting. The anchors are very tiny plastic ones that don't really feel secure. Even though I don't plan to hang anything heavy, the shelf itself is about 10 pounds and the anchors don't feel like they would be enough. I could be wrong, but I decided to get my own toggle bolts instead so that it would be more secure. I also have double-layered drywall on the wall I was mounting my shelf on, so I needed pretty long screws for security - another helpful to determine about your own wall. A note on toggle bolts though, they're a bit unstable when they're suspended in the wall. They're secure once the item is hooked onto them but getting both of the screws through the holes in the shelf so that it could hang on it was a challenge. The screw hole guide that comes with the shelf is handy for guiding where you should drill your holes, but double check that the distance on the paper is the actual distance on the shelf beforehand. Once the shelves are mounted, they're very nice! As I mentioned if you push on it it'll rock back and forth a little because it's not totally flush on the backside. Also not all the squares are perfectly square so the some of them appear to be "not level" while other parts are perfectly level, so I wouldn't trust this with anything too intricate.
