I still use this brush even after 2yrs of purchasing, very soothing on my scalp kind of like a massage. It also helps redistribute the oils throughout and I’ve had significantly less hair loss from brushes that used to pull out my hair

Nice Brush

Happy Daze - 2 years ago
I really like the appearance of this wooden brush and also how it detangles my very long hair both wet and dry. The only problem I have with this brush is some of the black bristles come out in my hair while brushing. Not too many but enough to reduce the star rating to 4 instead of 5.

Better than my last wet hair brush, it's a keeper. Feels really soft on the scalp and detangles wet hair very easily.

Toxic smell and sticky

Maryjoe - 2 years ago, Verified purchaser
The brush came with an overpowering smell like varnish or bbq smoke . It smelled up my whole kitchen when I opened the package and the smell lingered on my hands . The bristles were sticky . I tried to soak the brush in dawn / baking soda with hot water and it still smells but the stickiness came out . I’m afraid this isn’t natural like the company claims . What kind of chemicals am I being exposed to with this ??

I have ordered this brush before multiple times and this time I was absolutely disgusted by how much it smelt like burnt rubber. It smelt like I was brushing a BBQ through my hair.

A Good Investment

I really like this brush. I’ve never gone with boar’s hair before and was nervous that it wouldn’t be a good choice for my thin dry hair. I use a wide tooth comb after a shower along with a smoothing serum and then this brush once my hair has dried - perfect combination. I have noticed a lot less breakage and hair in the brush itself. I also really like the wooden handle - very sturdy. I’ve snapped a few brushes in my day and that’s not a concern here :).

and I absolutely love it so far

5 out of 5 stars
Rachel Rivenbark - 2 years ago
I've been using this brush for a little over a week now, and I absolutely love it so far. I've been trying to get my hair used to not being washed every day after daily shampooing for the last 20+ years, and it's made enough difference in distributing the (at the moment, copious amounts of) oil in my hair that it doesn't look like the gross, greasy mess it usually does when I try to wean myself off shampoo. It also works extremely well for the days when I do shampoo, and it leaves my hair feeling super soft, and looking very nice. The product arrived in a timely manner, and was in good condition when I pulled it out of the box. I'm very pleased!

Great brush!

Mama Maker - 2 years ago
This is a great brush! I just received our second because my daughter kept using mine! I have think wavy hair that knots quickly and this brush gently brushes through and quick! My daughter has long fine hair and hates brushing her hair. But since she tried my brush last month she's been brushing her hair more and her hair look so much better! So glad we found this brush!

I have long medium-thickness of hair that tangles VERY easily, and this brush works very well

5 out of 5 stars
Carrie - 2 years ago
I've used a con-air (gel-handled) brush with plastic bristles for many years until I decided to try something new. I have long medium-thickness of hair that tangles VERY easily, and this brush works very well. The handle is not uncomfortable (like I thought it would be, since it is wooden), and the combination of plastic (hard) bristles with flexible (soft) bristles allows the hair to slide through when there's a tangle. Rather than pulling roughly at my hair (and of course, some hair rips out), the brush actually works the tangle out just from lightly brushing. It's quite the difference! I was convinced I had the best brushing routine/set of tools down, but this brush has made me reconsider. I want to purchase one as a back-up in case something happens to the one I have now.

Great scalp stimulation

4 out of 5 stars
Stapayr8485 - 2 years ago
This brush works very well to stimulate my scalp and freshen my hair without pulling or tugging at my hair. It detangles well. I only wash every 5 days, and this really makes my scalp and hair feel cleaner afterwards. It doesn't remove all the oil from my roots but I can tell it moves some of the oil down the shaft which keeps my hair from getting staticky or dry. I brush my hair out well every night, and it also helps make nice smooth ponytails.

... it is not really that important to buy a good brush. I was wrong

5 out of 5 stars
Nazanin - 2 years ago
I always thought that any kind of brush will do the job and it is not really that important to buy a good brush. I was wrong! Now I can see the difference! This brush makes my hair very shiny and it looks clean for 1 or 2 more days. I tried few boar brushes and sent them all back but this one is great! I love it because it has bristles (most of them don't) and it can detangle my thick, long hair.

I so wanted to believe it ...

I wanted to believe there was a true boar bristle brush as this price point especially based on the positive reviews. But after only one pull through my hair there were little black bristles shedding all over the sink. It felt nice on my head, so it’s possible the one I received was defective (but I have my doubts).

Convenient

Aera - 2 years ago
Love how it smooths out my hair. I only use it on dry hair, helps detangle and prevent oil build up from scalp. Will cause frizz if your hair isn’t properly conditioned. Only downside is it’s a bit difficult to clean out and lent/product can build up if you use lots of stuff in your hair.

The best brush EVAAAAAAA

I have very thick and coarse hair. Not only does this brush go through my hair better than my Mason Pearson brush, it scratches my scalp. It is heaven!!! I am in love with this brush. And the price! WHOOOP! I actually sit in front of my vanity brushing my hair like they did in the 40's or 50's.Package came on time and wrapped well.

Good boar’s hair bristle brush for thick, wavy hair

5 out of 5 stars
Casraz - 3 years ago
I had convinced myself that I *needed* a boars hair brush, to the point that I had justified spending $$$$ on a Mason Pearson. At the last minute I was dissuaded by more than one review that the classic MP brush works best on fine, thin hair (the opposite of the situation on my head). I dug around the blogsphere and came to the conclusion that a boars hair+ nylon bristle brush would work best for me. I like the look (and price) on this brush and decided to give it a try. It’s a winner so far — I use it to brush my dry hair in the evening before bed or to freshen up a blow out. It has helped moisturize my dry, brittle ends by way of moving sebum down the hair strands, and has brought my dandruff under control. Plus, a nice brush-out just feels good on my scalp. Really, I would have gladly paid the $$$$ for these effects :)

For hair like Rita Hayworth!

5 out of 5 stars
Carmelene - 3 years ago
I am going to confess. When I first bought this brush I didn't like it. I brushed my hair 100 strokes a day and felt that all it did was just give my hair more body -- without taming the frizzies -- so what I ended up with was well, more hair with frizzies. I wrote to the supplier and they gave me a full refund, no questions asked. (Pretty impressive). Then, thinking that it was the nylon tips on the bristles that was causing my dissatisfaction, I bought a full on-100% boar bristle brush from somebody else. Well, guess what? To my surprise, the 100% boar bristle brush did NOT address the frizzies problem either -- or at least, did not address it any better than did this nylon tipped brush and it cost three times the money. In fact, with the boar bristle brush, I couldn't get through my hair to my scalp as well as I could with this nylon tipped brush. So, I returned the boar bristle brush and am going to go with this nylon tip brush. My theory is that with the boar bristles towards the paddle of the brush the nylon tips actually allow me to get more penetration down to the scalp when I brush. If you want a brushed hair look -- full, swingy, shiny, healthy and natural -- I can recommend this brush. And yes, I do brush 100 strokes a day with my head turned upside down. I have a lot of wavy hair to the middle of my back, just so you know. Oh, and for those of you who don't know, Rita Hayworth is a movie star from the 40's who had FABULOUS hair!!!.
