Q: Can the glass vessel be replaced?
submitted by imjb2 - 3 months ago
A: Mine broke, I’m looking at a 4” rigid plastic tubing from a home store (which is 36” long, so will have to cut). Another option would be powder-coated mesh— copper feeders from other retailers are sold with smaller mesh for thistle and larger for sunflower seeds. But apparently mesh allows for moisture and mold, so I’m going with PVC

I’ve filled it and hanging it on my balcony for the birds in the am. I hear them all being long and feel bad that I don’t have feed so I bought this tonight to have it out for them. I live on a 4th floor apt building so I shouldn’t have issues with squirrels or animals knocking it down… only issue for me would be weather related. Wil update later on if issues arise.

I have bought many bird feeders and they all have lasted one season. This is an excellent feeder. Many smaller birds have been attracted to it. The seed is not affected by the rain and sleet. Plus it just looks good.

The birds love it. The squirrel loves it. As a a matter of fact…. This is a squirrel feeder as one squirrel proceeded to eat all the sunflower seeds in one sitting this morning.

Not sure why this has so many bad reviews. I’ve had it for almost a year…all through winter and it’s held up. And it’s been blown around pretty good. Easy to fill. Cute. I use birdseed, not suet.

Don’t be fooled by its nice appearance like I was. Within 2 months after purchase, I went outside one morning to fill it and the thin glass cylinder was cracked in 2 pieces. It was still hanging up and did not drop. However, it had gone down below freezing so it leads me to believe this is not temperature tolerant. Look for something else unless of course you don’t mind throwing away $20 every couple of months.

Glass is not good - all it took was one squirrel jumping on there & down it went in shards.

Very pretty and worked well for 3 weeks. Unfortunately, some critter knocked it down and glass broke. I guess I should have thought twice about the glass. Really wish this had a plastic cylinder. I’ll be trying to find a replacement cylinder, since the copper design is so nice.
Favorite bird feeder.

My favorite bird feeder. Pretty and functional. Great size. Easy to clean and fill. Birds love it. I’m not sure why it is described as a suet feeder when the photo shows it filled with seeds! I use sunflower seeds. Only slight problem is that it’s easy for squirrels to open top. Will be buying another one.

This is a nice looking feeder and functions as it should. My biggest complaint is that they all hang crooked and the tops do not sit tightly. They are small and don't hold much seed which is what I was looking for.
