Q: Do I need to thaw? Can I use my oven style air fryer?

submitted by psj - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi there! Our Franks in a Blanket should remain frozen until time of preparation. We only have conventional oven instructions at this time but if you do prepare in your air fryer, please ensure they reach internal temp of 165 degrees. Thanks!

I got these within the last week or so in Harris Teeter. My son cooked 16 of them 2 days ago as suggested 20-22 min. They were burnt blankets & franks were dark brown and hard. They were gross, thru away. I cooked the second batch tonight 2/20/25 for 16-18 minutes instead and they were still hard and dark brown. A little better but still hard. The directions state too long cook time & oven temp way too high to cook them. Those directions need to be corrected. We thru away most of them tonight also.

Convection Oven is the best way to cook these.

These are tasty and easy to heat up. I have a countertop convection oven that includes air fryer settings and tried these on the air fryer settings on the box, unfortunately they stuck really bad to the rack even though it was oiled well. I tried them again on convection settings on my oven, I set it for the same temp as conventional oven instructions but reduced the time by 4 min. and I only had 1 stick. Both my daughter and I like them as a lunch option so I will be getting these agian.

After reading reviews on these I opted to cook some in the air fryer as a trial run. I cooked them in my Ninja at 390 for about 6 minutes, turning them halfway through the cycle. They turned out great and taste delicious. Sausages are moist and Pastry puffed as it should. Cost is high so not sure I will purchase them often. We’re having these tonight for New Year’s Eve.

I bought these last week. Cooked one batch and thought they were salty. Tried them naked then with 5 different sauces nothing helped my issue. I just cooked the other batch and same results. Inserts was great to hold franks but could use something less to help with price. Pasty puff was good but may could use alot more. Tastes cheap. First item I've tried from company and maybe last.

I’m really annoyed with the bad reviews on here because the reviewers must not know how to cook, or not know that food is expensive. Yes they are expensive. I wish they were cheaper so I could buy them more. However I could just keep eating and eating them. I’ve tried other brands and they just aren’t as good. If following the directions makes them overcooked that doesn’t mean the product is bad. It means you don’t know how to cook. Just take them out of the oven when they are done like a normal person. As far as the person who said they fall all over the box when you take out half - well just put the empty holder back in like it was before you took it out. Problem solved. Love these little hot dogs!!!

I purchased this product, the little Frank's in puff pastry. Not really sure just how I expected them to be. However, I found them to be flavorless and a little annoying. They didn't go well with mustard OR catsup. Nothing shown on the pkg as to how better to serve them. The inside trays for these little piggies was/is a waste of packaging. Once you have baked 1 tray, the other just rambles all over the box until it is baked at another time.

At first, i loved these babies but hated how long i had to preheat the oven, and then cook these for about 20 minutes. depending on the ovens mood some of the puff pastry would burn. But the air fryer really unlocked the magic. pop them in for 8 mins at 400 and they come out perfect everytime. no burned pastry so it just crumbles away while leaving the frank super juicy, which of course benefits it for flavor!

Our last batch of pigs in a blanket were cooked according to instructions on parchment, and they caught on fire about minute 15 cracking our speed of a new window, and we had to dispose of the whole machine. Replacing the speed of them was expensive. Cooked at a 375° temperature because of the convection efficiency.
