Q: Would this be considered a firm topper?
A: I will be getting the latex topper when it goes on sale. So far I've had better sleep with the Casaluna wool mattress topper than the Brookside/Lucid one. I can recommend that one if you are looking at making your mattress more hotel like.
submitted byAgree - 5 years agoA: The whole setup is considered to be 3 out of 10 on the firmness scale. 10 being the firmest. 3lb density according to one website. The gel layer is extra soft based on the manufacturer. I couldn't sleep on the gel layer alone as it compresses next to nothing under my weight. My sheets also became very wrinkly in my hip area due to this which means it is very soft and offers no cushioning in that area. In the middle of the night I swapped the gel layer for the pillow top and slept better, but it wasn't the greatest sleep I've had. Sheets felt smooth and wrinkle free though in comparison. The pillow top layer is quite thick and soft, but will most likely compress over time so it needs replacing. I might try the combination of both gel and pillow top layers to see if it helps with making it more comfortable to sleep on my latex layer. If it doesn't I'm looking at getting a 2" latex layer in soft to relief pressure points to replace the Brookside/Lucid topper. I'm a side sleeper who sleeps on one side due to pregnancy. I weighs 136 lbs and is 5'6" tall. I have a 3" medium dunlop latex layer providing support on top of an innerspring mattress and I could feel the support layer through this topper. Hope this helps.

Our toppers are designed to feel plush so that they soften the feel of a too-firm mattress. If you need a firmer or more supportive bed, then it may be time to invest in a new and firmer mattress. Q: could this be used on a sofa sleeper?
A: Hi Beachgirl, this is Brookside. Yes, once fully expanded, this topper is easily foldable, but we recommend that once it has been opened and fully expanded, that it remain flat and in place. Continuous folding and moving of this topper can cause damage and premature wear. info@brooksidehomedesigns.com Best, Brookside

Q: Hello! Can you tell me, will they take a fitted sheet with deeper pockets, or can I use my existing sheets? Thanks.
A: Hi Toni, This is Brookside! This topper is 4". As long as your current sheets will fit your current mattress thickness plus a 4" topper, that would work great! Feel free to reach out to us at info@brooksidehomedesigns.com if you have any other questions. Best, Brookside

Q: hi! this product is a little unclear to me. Is this a 2 inch piece of foam and then a 2 inch plush mattress pad on top? If so, do i also need a mattress pad or can i put my sheets straight over this?
A: Hi JulieG, This is Brookside! This does have the 2" topper as well as the 2" pillow top, yes. The pillow top is not waterproof, so you can still put a protector over it if you choose. Otherwise, you could put the sheets right on top of that pillow top. Feel free to reach out to us at info@brooksidehomedesigns.com if you have any other questions! Best, Brookside

Q: If I am using this for my dorm room am I able to fold it back & put it away when i'm moving out?
A: Hi Kay, This is Brookside! We do not recommend repeated folding/rolling of the topper, as that can prematurely wear out the foam and cause damage. We recommend keeping the topper flat once it is opened. Feel free to reach out to us at info@brooksidehomedesigns.com if there is anything else we can help you with! Best, Brookside
