Q: Have you washed this quilt? Does it shrink? How much? What type of washer, water and detergent did you use? Concerned with the stitching that the puckering will never look the same. Plz respond.

A: Thank you for your interest in the 1977 Dry Goods Atmosphere Gauze Quilt. The care instructions are; Machine wash in cold water. Gentle cycle. Do not use bleach. Tumble dry. Low heat. Use large capacity machine. The large capacity machine is recommended so the quilt has ample space to move in the washer and dryer. Regular detergent is fine to use.

Q: Does this shrink when washed? It's 70% cotton. I'm torn between a Queen and King for my oversized (deep) Queen mattress. Thank you.

A: Thank you for your interest in the 1977 Dry Goods Atmosphere Gauze Quilt. I don't believe the quilt will shrink, but if it does, the shrinkage should be minimal. The best size for your deep mattress depends on the depth of the mattress and whether you want the quilt to cover the full depth of the mattress. The queen size is 88 inches wide and the King is 106 inches wide. Both are 92 inches long.

Q: Does this quilt have long and loose stitching just going straight across in rows or is it a quality tighter stitch? The photo is too blurry for me to tell.

First, I love the quilt. It's beautiful. It doesn't quite fit my queen bed so I live with it being shorter on one side. My question is this: Has anyone washed this quilt? I can't afford any additional shrinkage. Plus the stitched gauze concerns me. Will it pucker differently and not look the same? If you've washed this, please let me know how it turned out. What type of washer, detergent, water, etc. you used in order to get good results. Thank you.

The quilt is a true white and I love the texture/look. It fits perfectly on my full size bed, which has a thick box spring underneath. While the weight and fabric doesn't provide much winter warmth (gauze is more of a summer material), it works for me as I run hot most of the time. The only downside is that the surface threads that run through the quilt have been stitched rather poorly. About a third of the threads are either sticking out, falling apart, or strung together with the row above it. I noticed this before washing the quilt and of course washing it made it worse. However, I am willing to look past this and keep the quilt because it was less expensive than others. I realize that this is not a "hierloom quality" quilt and I will either restitch the quilt myself or get a new one when it's time. Beyond the flaw, the quilt washed nicely and I didn't notice any "smell" when I initally opened the package.

I don’t think the thin thread will hold up in the dryer. It says tumble dry but I think the thread will just break. I wish there was a clear picture of the details in the listing

BEAUTIFUL and classy quilt! Purchased this in effort to make my bed into one of those COMFY beds you see on Pinterest! Mission accomplished! Love this because the pattern one one side are simple lines, and on the reverse side is a smaller square pattern. I didn’t find this to be overly girly or shabby chic. Love a nice white quilt for that cozy look, but also so nice to use during summers. VERY happy with this purchase!
