Detroit-style deep dish came to be when an innovative chef baked a pizza in an automotive parts tray used on the assembly line (it's the Motor City, after all). I followed the cooking directions exactly - 425 for 21 minutes, in the tray, 8 inches from the bottom of the oven and then let sit for 5 minutes before slicing. The outter edges were cooked, the cheese completely melted and the top had a golden brown crust on it. The middle was undercooked and lukewarm at best. The texture of the cheese was awful. Reminds me of how vegan cheese melts on a pizza. It was a gooey sloppy mess, not how traditional mozzarella cheese melts on pizza. I put it back in the oven to cook longer and it never got any better. There is a very strong oregano taste. Not sure if it's from the sauce or if it's sprinkled on the whole pizza. There wasn't a lot of flavor from any of the other toppings. I had really high hopes from this. From all of the reviews on Tik Tok to the way it smelled while baking I thought this was going to be a home run, but it was a total flop. I'll stick to my usual brand of frozen pizza moving forward.
