This would be second portable heater from Target in as many years. Unfortunately, the one I had bought two years ago was no longer available, so I thought this one looked like a similar. How wrong I was. First of all, the box it came in was filthy dirty - worse than anything I've ever gotten from the back shelves of the local home improvement warehouse. The dust on it was thick, and black, and almost greasy, as if it had come from a place where there had been a fire. But the heater looked new and unused. I plugged it in, noticing that it did have a thermostat, variable choices about levels of power, and a timer. I ran that thing all day in a medium-sized area, and it never budged the room temperature more than 2 degrees. This is in a heated house - it was just to take the chill out of the air in a room with a lot of glass. I turned it up to 74. Still no increase in heat in the room. I could feel some warmth up at the ceiling in the corners (low, 7' ceilings!), but not in the general space. Before the manufacturer responds with "but heat rises, so that's to be expected," my other heater is in a 700 square foot space with a cathedral ceiling, and it warms the space up very nicely set at 68. So, no, this is a waste of money. Returning it.
