A: Hi - the bulbs on the base are decorative and act as a night light. The main bulb is under the shade. This is the one used for general room lighting and reading. Thanks for the comments!

The lamps are nice and arrived with everything you need to make them work. My only complaint so far is that the bottom bulb is very loose on both lamps. I’m not sure how long these will last. Also, it’s states the bottom bulb is meant to be a nightlight but it is brighter than the main bulb. Otherwise, I am happy and only time will tell for how long they actually last.

And if you are getting too much light from the bottom bulbs you can try using another lower wattage, lower lumens bulb that doesn't output so much light. We can help with that as well. I really like these lights but I specifically bought them for the usb ports which quit working within the first year on both. I reached out and there is not even parts to fix the problem. I won’t buy from this company again

These lamps are gorgeous! They add so much ambiance to our home with dual lighting. I would have given it five stars, but when they arrived, it looked as if someone had packed this box in a hurry. Light bulbs were out of their light box, and one of the saddles that attaches to the shade wasn't even boxed, the other one was—very poor attention to shipping detail.
