Q: does this item have a 3-way switch

A: Hi - no, this lamp does not have a 3-way socket, just a regular on-off socket switch. If you are looking for 3-way bulb functionality with this design, we would suggest using it with a tabletop dimmer. With the dimmer you can set the light level to whatever level you want, giving you much more control over the light output than you would get from a 3-way bulb. Thank you for the question!

However, it was a great by considering the price and quality overall. I'm not sure how the finish was applied, but it is a simacrulum of wood that looks as if it could have been applied with a brush although there is no texture. From a distance it definitely has the appearance of wood and the lamp overall looks very classy. It seems well constructed and sturdy. I don't like the the switch is on the cord instead of by the bulb, though I did not factor that into my score because that was clearly communicated in the product description. I accidentally ordered two instead of one and was irritated with myself. But I'm actually keeping the second one because I realize they are actually of a much higher quality than things I am finding elsewhere.
