Q: Does this hold up after several washes in a washing machine? I would probably need to clean throw it in the wash once a month or so because we have dogs. I'm trying to compare to other brands that advertise being very durable.

submitted byAaron - 6 years agoTarget staff supportA: We had one for 9 years that was in my daughter's room from birth till we re-did her room earlier this year (we actually bought a new one just a different color). These rugs take an absolute beating. My daughter has thrown up on it, spit up on it, peed on it and it was washed so many times and came out looking like a champ EVERY TIME. I do recommend that you just air dry it either inside or outside and just fluff on low to take the hardness away after air drying it. I loved this rug so much that when we re-did her room, I just got the same rug but in a different color. I actually still have the old one that I am going to use in the laundry area in the basement when I get to that point.

A: I suggest you go to a site like houzz.com and look at pictures of living rooms with throw rugs to get an idea of what looks right to you. I have a hard time visualizing rugs in my space so seeing examples really helps.

This rug arrived stained and filthy with blue tape stuck in it!! Really Target? Now I have to go exchange it, which defeats the purpose of ordering. Please do better when inspecting items that go out for shipment. Obviously, the person who packaged it did not care because there are stains all over it visible without even taking it out of the bag!! Truly disappointing

My dogs are elderly and are often having accidents on the rugs. I got this for the “machine washable” ability. You can wash it, but after several washes/dries it no longer lays flat. It’s also on the thin side so I did need to purchase a rug pad along with it. Also not easily washable if you have a standard small sized washer. 10/10 if you are in a situation to need to wash the rug weekly. I think I got it for $60 on sale so it’s not a huge deal. 5/10 if you are not. If you have to pay $90 full price, other rugs are way better.

The carpet is cute and soft but not vacuum friendly. The individual hairs will come out if you try to pick small things up or accidentally get something snagged. Hard to hand wash, i had spilled some mascara and no amount of soap and detergent could lift it. It's alright but I wouldn't put this anywhere where guests could see.

This light colored rug arrived at my house covered in dirt, like it was used to clean the back of the FedEx truck. It wasn’t covered in plastic at all, just pulled off a shelf & put in a dirty truck. Extremely disappointed that I had to drive to a target (50 mins away) to return it. Such an inconvenience! When you order online, you would expect common sense to be used & thoroughly wrap the purchase so it wouldn’t get dirty. Makes me cautious about continuing to order from Target online.

Bought this area rug in the 5’x7’ size in the pink color. The pink in this rug was not a baby pink like a previous shag rug I bought from target a few years ago. This one looks more like a peachy pink to me. It is good quality for the sale price I got the rug for. It’s a good size for my daughter’s room. It adds softness to her floor and looks great.

I've had this in my daughters room for 2 years. I've vacuumed it- Still dirty. I've thrown it in the washer- Still dirty. I've slapped it against my home exterior walls- Still dirty. Fuzz, hair, crumbs etc all remain stuck. It looks cute from afar, but once I get the budget, I want to replace it.

I love the material and such of this rug. But man the grey…. It’s not even close to the dark grey it’s supposed to be. It’s pretty much like a dirty white. Very disappointed :( no target near is so not able to really return. I guess we are going with the mismatched colors 😂

I purchased this "Plush Shag Rug" By: Room Essentials™, in the pink / blush color. I really like it, but it's a high traffic area in my apartment and to me, even in new condition, it never really looks super clean and bright. However, in my photos, it is very much clean and has only been in my place a few days. So far I am pleased and it's the perfect accent and pop of color for the space I put it in!
