Q: Why is the pole diameter not listed as well as what base would best accomadate the pole? I bought this thinking the base was included because it was not stated in the description or photos.

  • A: To the Target Support that answered this…no, it’s not helpful. Literally (and not the way kids use “literally” these days), there is NOT ONE base that fits this pole. DON’T BUY THIS ITEM!

I have a very small balcony/patio.. & the sun reflects directly on it around 8am-10am which makes it almost impossible to enjoy during the morning, which is the time i want to sit out there. A conventional umbrella wouldn’t have worked. This was perfect for my needs. I found a stand that had a small plastic lid d that makes the hole 1in to keep the umbrella pole stable.

Needed something small to block some of the hot afternoon sun shining through a window and for some shade when I sit in the deck. I did feel like I was going to put an eye out bending the forms into a circle to get them connected. I have a side table with the umbrella hole and the stabilizing screw and it works perfectly. I like that it is small and light enough that I can move it to the other side of the deck using a fillable umbrella base. The mint color isn't the best match, I wish it came in the neutral tan color. The storage bag is the tan color! She's cute and a keeper! (Companies need to make half round umbrellas in smaller sizes that fit neatly against a wall!)

Being flat it gets picked straight up by any wind. It’s a pain to put down and back up. The circle doesn’t fold down any smaller when you are done with the umbrella. Save yourself a lot of inconvenience and get a regular umbrella

This umbrella does the job keeping the hot afternoon sun off my flowers. As far as I see it, there are 2 problems. 1, it's difficult to disassemble the umbrella from the center pole. It snaps on the pole, but not off so easily. I need to take it down during winds over 10mph. 2, I could not find an umbrella stand that fits this particular umbrella. The pole which holes the umbrella is slightly less then 1" in diameter. I could only find stands that had 1.25 to 1.5 diameter so I had jimmy rig my umbrella to fit. It would nice if the company that supplies the umbrella would supply the appropriate stand as well. Otherwise it's a great product.

This thing is a disaster. So dumb and pointless. I read the reviews thinking I could make it work and gave it a shot in the hopes of shading and awkward space on our patio. Nope. Makes it even more awkward to be honest. Who wants a big dumb circle of fabric just wobbling about? I also pinched my hand/fingers no less than three times trying to put it together/adjust the height. It will be going back. Ugh. Should’ve known $40 was too cheap. I guess this is a lesson in you get what you pay for.

Do not get! Don’t take a chance on the reviews like I did. Came with a different pole than pictures (2 piece pole that angled instead), there is not a base (that is snuck in the item details). Then when you get it all set up, the pole doesn’t even hold up the shade and it just falls straight down. It’s also impossible to disassemble once you have the shade connectors in place.

I normally don’t write reviews but since the ones for this were so bad I thought I would give another opinion. I’ve been searching for an umbrella that would fit a very small and usual area on my back porch. It seemed perfect so in light of the bad reviews took a chance. I found this really easy to put together but possibly why other people had an issue is the directions do not explain that when you connect the last two pieces for the circle part there is a notch in the plastic piece and it helps to point that down it holds the rod in place until you can get it inserted. It only took about five minutes to put together. I did have an issue finding a stand for a .87 diameter pole, because of the location I have for it I was going to use a ground stand and they do make ones that are smaller for beach umbrellas. I went with a portable stand that hooks to a table or chair from Amazon it says it would only hold a pole as small as 1 inch but has held this umbrella very tightly. Overall very pleased with this purchase. Can’t beat the price.
