Q: Why is there a chemical smell even after washing? Also, the tag on the sheet only says cotton, it does not say that it is organic cotton. Why doesn't the label state organic?

  • A: We would consider a chemical smell to be a quality concern, it does not happen often nor do we expect it to. It does not say organic on the tag originally for the sake of space however it is a change we are looking into.

  • A: I've heard that fabrics imported from outside the U.S. have to be fumigated and if this is the case the fabric should be cleaned before it is sold. The label is not accurate and is not acceptable, IMO

Q: TwinXL: deeply flawed topsheet folded doublethick section. Post-drying it's all warped, requires serious steam/spray ironing to flatten and regularize. Only fix: sew 1-2 seams to prevent creep. AYKM?

  • A: The laundering instructions on our Percale Sheet Set state to wash in cold water with similar colors. As this is 100% Cotton, washing in warm water make cause the natural Cotton fibers to shrink and making this Sheet Set too small for your needs. There should not been any smell with our Organic Cotton Sheet Set unless there happens to be a scent taken on by the plastic packaging from being in transit for a period of time. As with all new items, we recommend washing your new Sheets before using them.

    Very nice well-made sheets and quality, but not your old-fashioned traditional percale. They are not the crisp, stiff, body that defines a true percale. These are good as far as thread count but they are silkier, more like a sateen texture. If I wanted silky I would have purchased sateen or silkysoft sheets. I expected percale which is crisp and stiffer with more body. I.e. Remember our beloved Fieldcrest and Hotel brands? You can feel the cotton fibers under hand. I guess this is the new generation that wasn't introduced to tradition. Sad it's gone.

    Weird smell but washed out

    I’ve purchased these sheets in blue two years ago but decided to change my bedding. I purchased the white sheet set and after opening it had a horrible smell. It literally smelled like poop. My first set two years ago never had this issue. I ended up just tossing them in the washer and the smell came out. I love these sheets because they’re cooling and I’m a hot sleeper but the smell was concerning. I’m still debating if I want to sleep in them or return them even though the smell is gone.

    Yes, as other reviews state, they are scratchy, but it takes several washes for the sheets to soften. I had Bloomingdales percale sheets from decades ago that were like this. As for wrinkles, any all cotton sheet will wrinkle. My recommendation is to dry the fitted sheet separately, the flat sheet separately, and the pillowcases separately, and make sure you cool down for 5 minutes after heating and promply remove from dryer and lay out flat on bed (and you can fold them); then make bed hours later. You'll find the sheets will smooth out with little wrinkles. They don't take long to dry after a gentle wash/fast spin. They are nice quality sheets and I don't find them thin at all. Fitted sheet is a little loose but not bad and that can depend on your mattress.

    I really wanted to love these sheets. The color is just what I was looking for, but they are not as soft as I’d like. I’ve tried washing them a few times to break them in, but they are still kind of crisp. Laying in bed at night, you can hear them crinkling when we roll over or move around & it wakes me up sometimes. I wish they had more of an organic cotton feel. I’m kind of disappointed I spent as much as I did on these. I don’t think they are worth the price & I wish I had returned them before washing them.

I will say the smell of the sheets when I took them out of the package was gross. Like, oddly chemically - super weird smell. So I was worried that was just how they smelled. But once I washed them, the smell disappeared. Washing is CRAZY easy! These sheets almost dry in the spin cycle! When I took them out of the wash, they were crispy (weird adjective, I know, but it's the best way to describe them) and barely damp. Put them into the dryer and they were dry in one cycle (raise your hand if you have to constantly fight with your sheets rolling up into a big ball and never drying! Not the case with these). They are lightweight and soft and absolutely perfect.
