Q: How do you program the custom settings? The attached instructions give me no clue as to, how to do that, or why pressing the button on the usb makes the lights blink white 2-3 times.

Q: To use these beautiful lites in hanging lantern w/o the batteries: Do I charge USB in on or off position & how long does it take to fully charge before I can use the lights w/o the charging post?
A: Hello Lee - We appreciate your interest in this colorful fairy lights. However, this is not a chargeable product and it does not have a rechargeable battery. The product has two methods to be illuminated. It can either be powered by 3 AA batteries, or it can be plugged into a power source via USB. So, for example, you may plug the USB into a wall-outlet brick and then plug into socket to illuminate them. I hope this information helps you to have a fairly light set-up. - Cynthia
