A: Thank you for your question, and sorry for the confusion. This table measures 42 in W x 42 in D x 29.5 in H when fully extended. There are 9 in drop leafs on either end with a 24 in x 42 in center section with the drop leafs down.

Q: Before it's assembled, are the tabletop and the base separate? How hard would it be to carry the unassembled pieces up a flight of stairs? Also, can the table be disassembled for moving?

I've now purchased this table twice, for two different apartments. The first time, I got a brand new one. This most recent time, it was pretty clear that I got a box that someone had purchased, opened, started to assemble, and returned. (See photos.) There should have been some indication that I was getting open-box merchandise and a discount reflecting that. Once assembled, the table is great. Stable, useful, attractive. I got the black one both times. My issue is with the assembly of the table. Assembly is straightforward but needlessly problematic for three reasons: 1) the inside elements of the package are secured with strapping tape that is STAPLED to the bottom of the table. The staples are deadly. I think the reason a buyer returned the table I just got was that he/she couldn't deal with the staples: when I got the package, the strapping tape was partially removed with numerous staples half in and half out (see third photo) -- one of which punctured my thumb. I should have taken a picture before the bleeding stopped, but didn't think of it. 2) The company provides a little wrench, but there is no warning that one will need pliers to remove the staples. Pliers are also needed to remove plastic guards on the end of the pre-installed bolts on the leg pieces (which are not mentioned anywhere in the instructions). 3) The provided wrench isn't shaped in a way to makes it easy to access and tighten the nuts that secure the bolts that hold the legs to the interior of the central column. I got the nuts tightened, but I could tell that a better angled and/or longer wrench would have made it much easier to manage. Once you forget the hassle of putting the table together, it's great.

I was looking for a 42 inch round table that matched the dark wood cabinets in my kitchen. I had tried another table but the espresso color was black! I gave this table a try after reading that the wood color was more brown than black even though it too is called espresso. It matched the wood perfectly. My husband put it together in less than an hour. I was worried about the drop leaf part not being sturdy. However, after a few meals with my family, the drop leafs are very sturdy. They will come in handy when I need to put the table to the side of the room for large parties. So overall, I am very happy with this table and hope to use it for many years to come!

Easily put together this table, the instructions were pretty straight forward. Matches perfectly with the chairs we got, too. Extremely sturdy even with having the ability to fold down the sides. Only down side is that it gets dirty easily but that's just cause of the finish.
