Q: Is this bowl food-safe? Was black paint applied to the bowl to make the wood black? Curiuous to know if it's safe for use as a salad bowl? Acacia wood isn't usually black, so this concerns me.

Much classier looking, and discreetly hold more than the old baskets we were using. Very solid construction. They also didn't seem to have the flawed spots you often get in stoneware.
