72" Carson 5 Shelf Bookcase - Threshold™

The item showed up damaged and then when we went to return it we found out we had to bring it in to the UPS Store and the box is huge and heavy. Will not buy furniture from Target ever again. At least Amazon picks up the big expensive items that are delivered damaged!!!

This is my second time purchasing this bookcase and the quality is drastically different from the first one I bought. The first one was beautiful and smooth wood the second one is a different color white, grainy wood, and taller than my original somehow. The second one also doesn’t stand up straight and tilts forward. I’m so disappointed and have no idea how to even return something this large that is already assembled.

I bought this shelf to put in the nursery closet and it did not disappoint. It is such good quality and very sturdy.

Sturdy, good-looking shelves! I put two Carson shelves next to each other to make them look more built in. Love them.

Easy to buy, delivered quickly, easy to put together but takes some time. Perhaps 20 minutes, if you have a drill. I didn't and added more time for assembly. Great wood color, holds a lot, and they stand firm. About to buy a third.

These are attractive with ample storage room and can tolerate a decent amount of weight on each shelf. The three adjustable shelves will allow you to accommodate taller books and picture frames. I’ve put four of this model together in the past couple months. The diagrams are not always clear, but if you make a mistake, you will figure it out quickly because the next step will not work. I consider this item a good value if you don’t need solid wood.

There weren't any covers for the large cams, so you can see the large silver circles. The back doesn't have pre-drilled holes for installing the back panels. The legs are too wobbly for carpet. This is better suited for hardwood floors. We got this as a present and can’t return it. Will be buying something else that looks nicer and is better suited for carpeting.

I was looking in the details of the page if this was formaldehyde free and it was not mentioned. I feel as the years pass this companies hide this crucial information. To my surprise once I opened the box the first panel has a warning label. It it infuriating for so many reasons. One of them being that I live in a two story home and carried the heavy package. Inspected the package before I even carried it upstairs. Just to find out it’s not formaldehyde free once I unpack and open it.

The assembly took less than an hour and the quality is better than expected. This bookshelf is perfect and sturdy. The shelves are adjustable for what height you need. If you are a book girlie or even just looking for a nice shelf, this is the one for you!

Bought the horizontal bookshelf 6yrs ago and the skinny bookshelf 6 months ago. The quality was mostly the same and the finishes exactly the same, so when this bookshelf finally restocked, I jumped on it. Bad move. The quality is atrocious and the facing “wood” is streaky and does match the other two. Would exchange but I’m certain I’d get the same quality and finish issues, really a shame. I would have waited longer if the manufacturer needed more time to restock with the original materials they’d been using for years, but they copped out instead.

I like the bookshelf, but I think the method for attaching the back panel is excessive—45 screws with only 4 pre-drilled holes is quite cumbersome. For the price, I believe more pre-drilled holes or an alternative method for securing the back panel would be appropriate. I suggest revisiting the design.

Great for the price, this was really easy to put together. It took me less than an hour with several interruptions from my children. I'm excited to organize my office space and I'm considering a decorative peel and stick wallpaper for the backing.

I have three of these in espresso and one in black and those are all fine. Something about the white ones isn’t. It arrived damaged and unusable. Then when I tried to process a return, the app wanted me to take it somewhere and drop it off. It weighs 70 pounds and is too big for my car! I had to call customer service to deal with it and instead of having FedEx pick up the bookcase they damaged I now have to dispose of it myself which means paying someone to haul it away. I’m feeling incredibly salty about this whole experience and Target’s customer service is terrible.

Cheap materials. No where near the quality of the three-shelf, two-shelf and horizontal bookshelf in this style back in 2016. The backing was just barely wider than the opening that it was impossible to line it up and make sure the screws went into the side. I had to use my drill for pilot holes. I thought once it was up with the shelves it would be sturdier. Not really. Very disappointed. Wish I hadn't wasted my money.

I purchased 3 of these bookshelves clearances out for $35 each 7 years ago and have used them since. I needed a 4th and waited for them to come back in stock. At a whopping $180 these “new” bookshelves are no longer real wood. They look very similar to the old ones but the price tag IS NOT WORTH IT.

For the price, it’s a decent book shelf. It’s cheaper material so I’m not convinced it will last 25 years but it will hopefully last the childhood of a kid. Very easy to assemble.

Holds allll my kids books. A high quality bookshelf. Easy to out together.

+ it looks cute and holds a ton of books which is what we needed! It looks nicer than just the cheap closet style bookshelves. Helps finish our room :) +Appreciate that each step had individual bags of screws/pegs, making it super easy to follow directions. -The back was put on with all screws which was super annoying. Tack nails would have been sufficient. -the sides are not solid - they are like the thicker poster type stuff on the back. It looks cute but it is going next to a window seat and I’m sure a child will lean against it and it is not suitable for that. - the strap to hook to the wall - the screw and the anchor are different sizes so the screw just pulls right out. We made do, but we will buy an L bracket to help attach it to the wall.

It looks like the picture. The color is a nice bright white. The Side panels are not that sturdy. The shelves are. Unfortunately the shelves has damaged marking on front panels that unable to remove. Also 1 Bookcase has a very strong chemical smell. The 2 bookcase a slight smell. I purchased 2 bookcases and the cut out holes in this one was too large in areas, making it much harder to put together. So it took a lot more time. I took off 2 stars for fumes. I took off 1 star for quality
