A: Dear Grandma. Unfortunately, the length can't be shortened. However, since it is a roller shade, you can stop the shade at an lenght below 72".

Q: Is it possible to mount this shade on the outside of the window rather than inside the frame?
A: Hi Loe1218, for sure these can be mounted outside the window frame. Just remember to order an extra width size of 3-4 inches to be sure to cover the whole window frame for better security and light protection.
