A: The photo is showing the bookcase to be closer to black than it really is. It would not match black furniture, but it would certainly coordinate with it. It is more of a dark brown with deep burgundy undertones.

This is an extremely nice shelf. Don’t trust the bad reviews. It’s extremely sturdy, very easy to put together AND it’s solid wood. It deserves five stars. I highly recommend and am very impressed. You very rarely get anything made of real wood at this price point. Major bang for your buck.

Decent item for the cost. The finish is insanely unforgiving- scratches if you look at it the wrong way. Pieces had marks and scratches when we received it but wasn’t worth the hassle of returning due to price and since it’s for a guest room.

Pay attention to the reviews before you purchase! "Espresso" is a warm, chocolatey color - NOT black like it appears in the pictures. I bought this shelf hoping it would match some of my existing black-brown furniture. Other than that, it appears to be very good quality for the price. I might bite the bullet and try to re-paint it.

Great, stylish shelf. Parts were drilled properly. The only tool required was a screwdriver. I would say be sure to wipe it down before assembling because it had something like fiberglass all over it which was painful to my skin. Also, the color(espresso) isn’t quite as dark as the picture, but it really is gorgeous and pretty sturdy, especially for the style and price. I ❤️ it!

I put it together by myself which was fine and didn’t take long at all and it was pretty simple but it would be easier with 2 people for sure. Looks just like the picture, and the wood doesn’t feel or look cheap. I would definitely buy again!

Got 2 shelves for the living room and they look great. Not the sturdiest shelves but they look good and were fairly easy to put together. Ours did not have any scratches or dings. You need to press down the top part significantly to press the wood dowel into the bottom part.

I picked this shelf because it was one of the deepest I could find. The 11x11 cube storage bins fit perfect side by side on the 2 bottom shelfs. Its a nice size an loved the black color because it still shows some grain.
