Short vowels?

I’m a teacher so I am picky about books that teach. The book would be perfect if short vowels were taught vs long vowels. Short vowels are always taught first. “I for ice cream” doesn’t fit the needs of a beginning reader and isn’t a great example for kids younger than that. Long vowel sounds are taught later. “I for igloo” would be my pick to replace it. For some reason there are many books, post-able alphabets, teaching tools, online resources… that skip right over some or all short vowels.

19 month old love this book! However there are a few confusing things in it. The 3 she has the most trouble with are: J is for jet (she insists it’s plane), Y is for yacht (she says it’s a boat), H is for Hen (she says chicken)

This book is perfect. We were looking for a new interactive book for our 2 year old, and found this. We love that there are two different words per letter, and a cutout of the letter to easily trace with a finger. Both my 2 and 4 year old love it. Our 4 year old loves to trace each letter.

I'm a pediatric OT, so always looking for good ABC books which teach letter recognition and tracing the 'correct' directions etc. This book is great with the cutout letters, allows finger tracing and the arrows to tell you which is the correct order and direction to make the lines. Yes, the flaps can be easily torn, but most toddler books are like this with flap doors. This is a great book for 2.5 years and up. Finger tracing is a great pre-step before trying to trace and write letters!
Arrived damaged but good book.

Arrived damaged on the spine of the book, the edges of the book and is lifting and tearing. Other than that, this book is terrific. Pretty bummed it arrived damaged.

The cutest little alphabet book. We are working on alphabet recognition and this book is perfect for our homeschooled kids! The tracing cut out is such a great tool to help learn how to write the letter. The flap with objects always make reading time more fun and interactive!
