Book Synopsis

Young readers will join Cora, a girl with big dreams and even bigger aspirations, on a journey to discover what makes life truly meaningful.

Ever since she was a little girl, Cora has dreamed of designing truly fantastical things, awe-inspiring structures that everyone recognizes as world wonders...and that's exactly what she does!

As Cora ages and her accomplishments and acclaim grow, she returns to her hometown to fulfill her childhood dream--to transform the house on top of the hill into a true world wonder. In the process, Cora learns that living a meaningful life isn't all about amazing achievements or always making bigger and better things, but about building community, giving generously of your time and talents, and loving others along the way.

Vividly illustrated and imaginative, A World Wonder helps parents and educatorsencourage children to dream big but also to value wonder and beauty in the ordinary. Most important, young readers will learn that in a world of limitless possibility, it's the bonds we form and the people we love that bring real meaning and satisfaction in life.

Review Quotes

"In this charming tale of creativity and community, Laura reframes what we consider wonderful--and does it in the most wholehearted way. Kids and grownups with big imaginations (and big hearts) are going to love this story."

--Kayla Craig, author of Every Season Sacred and To Light Their Way; creator of Liturgies for Parents

"This book itself is a little glorious wonder. With a lilting story that points to what's truly worth investing in, the greatest wonder of the world that will last for all eternity--the souls of people! A book to read again and again!"

--Ann Voskamp, author of Your Brave Song and One Thousand Gifts

"A World Wonder is a captivating tale exploring the pursuit of dreams, the ache of dissatisfaction, and the enchanting discovery of life's true wonders. With its exquisite illustrations, Cora's journey delivers an invaluable lesson that deserves a place in every young heart, reminding us that we're never too young to discover life's true treasures."

--Eric M. Schumacher, author of The Good Gift of Weakness

"A World Wonder is a positively beautiful way to show your kids how much people truly matter. Like the main character, Cora, author Laura Wifler is creative, gifted, generous, and more interested in connecting with people than receiving accolades and collecting personal achievements. Her newest book will inspire every family to appreciate and dream big about building community. You're going to want multiple copies because it's not only a great book to read to your kids, it's the perfect book to give to neighbors to remind them how much you value their friendships."

--Adam Griffin, pastor, author, podcaster

"In a world where kids are glued to screens and the library feels difficult to navigate, we need a resurgence of children's books that are full of timeless truth and beauty. Thankfully, Laura Wifler has stepped into that gap with a story powerful enough to soften any heart at any age. A World Wonder invites children into Cora's whimsical world, where they can grow up with her and learn what's truly important in life. This book is the perfect excuse to cozy up together in your favorite reading chair."

--Emily Jensen, author of He is Strong and coauthor of Risen Motherhood

"Through the creative tale of an aspiring little girl named Cora, a rickety old house, and an ordinary village, A World Wonder will open your eyes to the beauty of community. While culture teaches us to strive more, be better, and achieve great things, Laura Wifler vividly brings home the wisdom that we don't need to search endlessly for a world wonder--the wonder is right in front of us in the people we love. Children and parents will cherish this memorable story."

--Gretchen Saffles, bestselling author of The Well-Watered Woman, founder of Well-Watered Women

"Through whimsical illustrations and delightful storytelling, Laura reminds us of God's most beautiful gifts: each other. A World Wonder is a sweet tale for the whole family about the joy and fulfillment found in dreaming right where we are, with those around us."

--Tara Sun, wife, mom, and author of Surrender Your Story

A World Wonder is a beautiful picture books for kids about a girl with big dreams of accomplishing big things. Ultimately, she learns that serving her neighbors and building meaningful relationships is the world wonder she was after all along. As a child with big dreams who has grown up to live an ordinary, but beautiful life this book brought me to tears. I also really appreciated seeing a main character that could be a single woman, we don’t often see that kind of representation in children’s books. Five stars! You need this for your child’s bookshelf!

My 3 boys loved this story! Without prompting, my middle son realized there was a Parrot hiding in every page. Not only was the story inspiring but the illustrations inspired us even more and gave life to Laura Wifler’s words. I’ll be gifting a copy to my kiddos teachers!

This book is not only stunning, with captivating illustrations that draw you in, but the message is wonderful! I loved reading this to my little girl. Such a good reminder that the worlds wonder do not have to be big, elaborate things, that the life you’re creating within your home and community is something to be proud of!

The book is beautiful! Our 7-year-old and 4-year-old have had us read and reread A World Wonder twice a day since we received it. Our girls are inspired by the story, asking good solid questions that helped them understand the intention of the story.

Such a wonderful book to give any child in your life - your own, nieces/nephews, a neighbor, your grandkids, or as a baby shower gift. I love filling our shelves with books that give examples of people treating & loving others the way they would want to be treated & loved. This one knocks it out of the park & as a huge bonus the illustrations are so charming & inviting for my kiddos (8, 4, & 1.5) to get lost in.

This book contains an important message for us all, no matter your age. People seek and search for so many things or to be remembered by something so great that they've done...this book reminds you that the real world wonder...is the people all around you. Don't miss it.

Laura has done it again! Her writing is beautiful and deep and yet connects to even the youngest readers/listeners in my house. What a wonderful book to capture their hearts and minds as they dream about leaving their mark on the world and the hearts of those around them.

I bought this book for my 8 year old. She's finally reading pretty well on her own and I wanted a beautiful book that would draw her with the illustrations, but by the end, would inspire her creativity. This story did so much more than that! Throughout the story, the author notes the main character's great accomplishments and contributions to the world, but by the end the main character realizes that the best part of those accomplishments (and really, the best parts of her life) are the people in her life and community. I love that this book teaches my kid (and me!) to pursue ambitions with excellence, but to value people most.

What a beautiful book and such a fun, meaningful story! It's so important to me to read books to my kids that flow well, tell a good story, teach a lesson and are fun at the same time! That's not always an easy combination to find - but this latest book by Laura Wifler hits the mark!

This cute story is about a little girl who has a dream about making a house that she loves from afar a world wonder. By the end of her life (and the book) though, she comes to realize that it isn’t about the things she have, it’s about the people and the community she is surrounded by that are her world wonder and give her joy. Such a special book for all of us looking beyond what’s right in front of us.
