The Acer 516 - 16" Chromebook came out in 2022. Chromebooks released in 2021 and later receive automatic updates for 10 years. To check when your Chromebook's update schedule ends, you can: Select the time in the bottom right Select Settings Select About ChromeOS in the bottom left Select Additional details Find the Update schedule section If your Chromebook receives a "Final software update" notification, it will no longer receive ChromeOS and browser updates. Even if your Chromebook no longer receives automatic updates, it will still have a verified boot that can repair itself if the system is tampered with. I bought mine based on Robby Payne of Chrome Unboxed's review: https://chromeunboxed.com/acer-chromebook-516-ge-review-gaming-geforce-now/ I agree with most of what he says; I miss having two USB-A ports and a microSD port, and brighter backlighting for the keyboard. I don't miss the touchscreen my other Acer CB has. I returned several Chromebooks when I first tried them because the front edge of them hurt my forearms, some even grabbed the hair on them. Acer's don't do that, and this one is Chromebook Plus ready.
