Q: Why can't I get 120 fps on some games
A: Hi Josiah, thanks for reaching out about Acer Nitro 27" FHD 180Hz AMD FreeSync Premimum Gaming Monitor (HDMI & DP) - VM270 M3. There are several reasons why you might not be able to achieve 120 FPS in some games on your Acer Nitro VG270 M3, even though it has a 180Hz refresh rate: 1. GPU Bottleneck: Insufficient Graphics Power: Your graphics card might not be powerful enough to consistently render game frames at 120 FPS with the desired graphics settings. Solution: Upgrade GPU: Consider upgrading to a more powerful graphics card (e.g., an NVIDIA RTX 3060 or higher, or an AMD Radeon RX 6600 or higher). Lower Graphics Settings: Reduce in-game graphics settings (e.g., lower resolution, reduce shadows, turn off anti-aliasing) to decrease the load on your GPU. 2. CPU Bottleneck: CPU Limitations: In some demanding games, your CPU might become a bottleneck, preventing your GPU from rendering frames at 120 FPS. Solution: CPU Upgrade (if possible): Consider upgrading to a faster CPU if your current one is limiting performance. Optimize CPU Usage: Close unnecessary background applications that might be consuming CPU resources. 3. Game Optimization: Poor Game Optimization: Some games may not be well-optimized, resulting in lower frame rates even on powerful hardware. Solution: Game Updates: Install the latest game updates, as developers often release patches that improve performance. Community Solutions: Search online forums and communities for known optimization tips and settings for specific games. 4. VSync/FreeSync Issues: VSync/FreeSync Misconfiguration: Incorrectly configured VSync or FreeSync settings can sometimes limit frame rates. Solution: Check In-Game Settings: Ensure VSync/FreeSync is enabled correctly in the game settings. Monitor Settings: Adjust VSync/FreeSync settings in the monitor's on-screen display (OSD) menu. GPU Control Panel: If using an NVIDIA GPU, check and adjust VSync/G-SYNC settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel. 5. Overclocking Instability: Overclocking Issues: If you have overclocked your CPU or GPU, instability can lead to performance drops and frame rate inconsistencies. Solution: Reduce Overclocking Settings: If you've overclocked, try reducing the overclocking settings to improve stability. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.
