A: The shelves are on the left side and can only be screwed in one way. If you turn the desk around, the support bar on the bottom and under top edge are in the front so a chair cannot go under

Q: The first picture shows the shelves on the left. The second shows the shelves on the right. Can it be assembled either way?
A: LOL! The table is turned aroung in the second picture, that's why the shelves are in the right. This is a left side storage desk
