Welcome to a brand-new series by Mary Connealy! Aiming for Love takes us to Hope Mountain in 1873 Colorado where we meet the Nordegren sisters who have been reared up high in the mountain by a set of grandparents who avoided civilization and taught them to fear the world outside of their cabin. With her trademark humor and easy-to-read writing style, the author paints a beautiful yet challenging backdrop of the untamed mountain as the three sisters meet the Warden family who are fleeing from those coming after their ranch in the "lowlands". Jo, the middle sister, is the main character in this book and her musings about civilization and "other people" are thought-provoking and sometimes downright hilarious. Her curiosity, heart of gold, desire to help others and skill with living off the land endear her to Dave, the younger Warden brother.
There are plenty of struggles, physical and emotional and spiritual, as the Wardens forge their way in the wilderness of Hope Mountain with the help of the sisters. This is book one in the series and sets up quite a few secondary characters and scenarios that will likely come into play as the series progresses. If you enjoy historical fiction, especially set in the frontiers, you will love this book. I can't wait to read the second book in the series where we'll get to know the youngest sister Ilsa better.

Mary Connealy has created another winner! Aiming for Love has all of the ingredients that we've come to love in her books: laugh-out-loud fun, clean romance that will increase your heart rate, and a good dose of faith and inspiration. In this book she introduces us to three sisters who are unusual, to say the least. The Nordegren sisters have grown up high on a mountain in southwestern Colorado and have been isolated from society for the last ten years. Their parents died when they were young and their grandparents convinced their granddaughters that the outside world had caused their deaths. Josephine, Ilsa, and Ursula are now young women who excel in wilderness skills and in living off the land but know nothing about living with other people. And then, the outside world comes to them and Jo realizes that people in that 'other world' might not be so bad! And it's obvious that rancher David Warden is intrigued by this young woman who 'had eyes so light blue it was like looking into the stars shining in the night sky. Her hair white as moonlight.' Could romance be coming to Hope Mountain?
Aiming for Love is such an entertaining story and I was especially impressed with Connealy's ability to describe the Nordegren sister's confusion about some of the phrases that Dave and his ranch hands use. Words and phrases that are so common to us seem so foreign to Jo and her sisters and their ability to combine Bible stories with fairy tales makes for some fun reading as Dave struggles with understanding just what Bible scripture Jo is talking about.
Aiming for Love has adventure, hope, inspiration, and the reminder that we all need each other. If you enjoy romantic comedy and Christian fiction, you will certainly enjoy this first book in the Brides of Hope Mountain. I am already wondering which Nordegren sister will be the next bride!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Mary Connealy and I am voluntarily sharing my thought in this review. These are my honest opinions.
Can’t wait for the next book in this series!

Get swept away in the beautiful Colorado scenery and follow Josephine Nordegren through the woods on her Mountain. Her will to feed and take care of her family and her curiosity lead her to meet David and his family. So sheltered and never having other people around, Jo’s curiosity gets her into some trouble. Dealing with her two sisters, tragedy and emotions she has never felt , leads her down a path she has never been before. She sees a love for family and feels the desire to have it herself. Has everything she has been brought up to believe, wrong?
I so enjoyed reading, Aiming for Love. Mary’s words kept me
Laughing, intrigued, and sleep deprived. She found a way to weave redemption, forgiveness, and God’s love into her story. Makes you think about fears, change and what God wants for your life. Left me wanting more and I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in this series! Would make a perfect gift this Christmas!

Aiming for Love is the first in Mary Connealy's Brides of Hope Mountain series and if book one is any indication of the series, I can't wait to read more! Connealy has a nice style of writing and kept my interest throughout the entire book. I was hooked from the beginning as the action starts right up and continues through the story, always keeping the reader wondering how in the world will things work out now. The characters are unique and likable. I really liked Ma Warden and her down-to-earth attitude and the wise way she dealt with the fears and idiosyncrasies of the self-sufficient Nordegren sisters. Jo, Ursula, and Ilsa, each with their own particular skills, lived in a land of grizzlies and mountain lions, lightning storms and blizzards and pretty much knew no fear. But to have strangers come and occupy their mountain was terrifying. Would they learn that not all folks from 'down there' bring trouble, sickness, and death? Think danger, suspense, a little romance and you have a recipe for an entertaining story. Aiming for Love is a captivating tale of family and faith, courage and love. Readers who enjoy historical romance will not want to miss this story.

I had a blast reading this book! Jo was such a fun character! She is so completely unique and I loved seeing the world through her eyes. I couldn’t imagine living life the way she and her sisters did, and yet it was completely normal for them. Connealy had me chuckling at some of the misunderstandings and I couldn’t possibly put this book down. It was easy for me to love the Wardens, but not so easy for the sisters who’d never even met another man besides their grandfather. Aiming for Love is the first book in the Brides of Hope Mountain series, and I can’t wait to see what happens next. This book took me on an adventure to a far away mountain where the land was untouched by man and I could imagine how breathtaking it looked. I met the most unique women to probably ever be written, and I grew attached to them quite quickly. I loved their innocence and how they were for the most part pure in their thinking and living. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys going on a unique adventure. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and was in no way forced to post a review. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

The three Nordegren sisters, Ursula, Jo, and Ilsa, have lived alone on Hope Mountain in Colorado since the deaths of their grandparents (and presumably their parents) ten years earlier. They have no contact with other people until Dave Warden and his cowhands move cattle into a nearby valley. Ever curious, Jo hides and watches them until one night when Dave catches her. Before that can be resolved, Dave's mother arrives with more men, cattle, and her injured husband, Quill. Ilsa is skilled at doctoring so is called on to help Quill. Ursula wants nothing to do with them. As the oldest, she absorbed the fearful ways of their grandmother and is sure they will die if they have contact with others. She has to make a choice between her sisters and her fear. After an absence of ten years, Mitch Warden has returned from back East after surviving two attempts to kill him. He sold his businesses and covered his tracks. We have a side story involving Wax Mosby, one of the men hired to run the Wardens off their land. Though we have a satisfactory conclusion to some events, we will have to be patient for the other books before we get all the questions answered and resolved. This is an entertaining story with handsome cowboys, strong women, adventure, and humor that I highly recommend. I'll be looking forward to the next book in this series.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher. All thoughts are my own.

I've been awaiting Mary Connealy's new novel, the first in her Brides of Hope Mountain Book, for some time.
As I cracked open the beautiful cover, I read the story of three sisters, Jo, Ilsa and Ursula in two days. The sisters bond between them captivated me, they were strong women who'd been sheltered from the bustling, busy world beyond their mountain home.
And, when they met the Warden family, the women realized there could be more for them out in the world. I enjoyed the playful relationship between Dave and Jo, and I am looking forward to continuing the journey with these memorable characters in the next book in the series.
When you read this, you too will probably feel the same way.
I was given this novel by Bethany House Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review. The thoughts contained in this review are strictly my own.

"The Nordegren women were better off alone."
Or were they? Along with her two sisters, Josephine Nordegren had lived her entire life isolated from civilization, living on the side of a mountain nestled deep within the wilds of Colorado. So naturally, when a passel of men and their cattle braved the steep trail towards the top of Hope Mountain, she became curious; curious enough to make a critical mistake.
Once David Warden realized that the ghost-like snoop was none other than a right beautiful woman, he head swam, but not for long. Right after he caught the fist swinging, boot kicking little thief red-handed; his parents, their entire crew, and a thousand head of cattle came barreling up the mountainside. The family patriarch, Quill Warden, had been shot.
Wielding her western wit, the author delightfully tells a tale of misguided understandings that kept three lovely young women afraid to venture off their property, and terrified to let strangers become friends. What would a man have to do to change their minds? Hint; there might be a little kissing involved.
