One choice will define you. What if your whole world was a lie? What if a single revelation--like a single choice--changed everything? What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected?

Told from a riveting dual perspective, this third installment in the series follows Tris and Tobias as they battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature--and their selves--while facing impossible choices of courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.

And don't miss The Fates Divide, Veronica Roth's powerful sequel to the bestselling Carve the Mark!

From the Back Cover

The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered--fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she's known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.

But Tris's new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature--and of herself--while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.

Told from a riveting dual perspective, Allegiant, by #1 New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth, brings the Divergent series to a powerful conclusion while revealing the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of readers in Divergent and Insurgent.

Review Quotes

"Roth shakes up her storytelling (and will do the same to some readers) in this highly anticipated, largely satisfying wrap-up to the Divergent trilogy."--Publishers Weekly

"Roth's plotting is...intelligent and complex. Dangers, suspicion, and tension lurk around every corner, and the chemistry between Tris and Tobias remains heart-poundingly real. This final installment will capture and hold attention until the divisive final battle has been waged."--Publishers Weekly

"The tragic conclusion, although shocking, is thematically consistent; the bittersweet epilogue offers a poignant hope."--Kirkus Reviews

"A surprise ending that is gutsier and much less predictable than the rest of the series would lead one to expect."--Los Angeles Times

"In the end, this is a world replete with loss, and the heroes must suffer their own in a twist that will break the hearts of many readers but stays true to the merciless dystopia that Roth has created."--Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books

"The plot is believably complex, and Roth makes the wise decision in this last installment to reveal the secrets early on and let the focus fall on her characters as they grapple with this new reality, the choices that face them, and the repercussions of their actions."--Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books

Really Disappointing

If I were you I would stop after book two. The author does a great job of building up hope and strength throughout the series and lets you down at the end. I wish I never read this

Reviewing the Purchase, not the content of the book

I haven't read this yet, as I actually purchased this for a gift (though the first 2 books were AMAZING!). Instead, I'll just review the service provided by Target for this order. The order arrived fairly quickly, was at a good cost, and was exactly what I ordered...received with no damage. I'm finding that I really enjoy ordering from Target.com.

I waited in anticipation to purchase this book, and was not disappointed. Wonderful ending to a great series. The ending is shocking, and has ruffled some feathers, but I think it was perfect. I would highly recommend this book and all of the series.

This purchase was fantastic. It was significantly cheaper than purchasing the book anywhere else and it shipped on the release date without any delay. I will definitely be pre-ordering materials from Target again in the future.

Never before has an author let down a reader as bad as Veronica Roth has with Allegiant. I was that reader that could not put down Divergent or Insurgent. I read the books over and over anxiously awaiting the release of Allegiant. The day Allegiant came out I was at [...] as soon as they opened. For 2 days I devoted my time to finishing the book. For the first half of the book I found myself extremely bored and annoyed. The storyline of the book almost seems forced. Like Roth had to come up with some idea to create a third story. I could have thought of so many different avenues she could have taken other than the one she did but whatever. I began skim reading certain parts of chapters so I could move forward in the book to parts that included Tris & Four. After all their love story had become the story did it not? Instead the book only frustrated me further. Each chapter is based off of either Four or Tris's point of view, not just Tris who is actually the main character. We should have seen this coming with all the lame short stories regarding Four that Roth has released. She is trying to milk her readers for every penny. Divergent and Insurgent were based on Tris's life and so should have been Allegiant. If Roth wanted to tell a point of view from Four then she should have taken advice from Stephanie Meyer when she did so in Breaking Dawn. Meyer told the point of view of Jacob but only did so in half the book, finishing the book from the main characters point of view. With Allegiant, I found myself constantly going back to the beginning of the chapter to remind myself who was speaking. The tone just never changed and it was always flopping between Tris and Four. SPOILER ALERT: But Roth could not do that could she. Sadly Roth is one of those authors who tries to be creative and winds up ruining her whole trilogy. Divergent and Insurgent makes you fall in love with Tris and Four and has you rooting for their happy ending only to have crushed by Roth. The ending only leaves you sad and angry. Four once again is miserable and will be since his soul mate is no longer with him. He finally finds happiness only to have it taken from him. Even addressing that scene, Roth swayed away from her character so much just so she could kill her off. Knowing Tris's character and that she is dauntless, why would she ever drop her gun or never try to disarm her attacker! Come on! I guess the biggest disappointment was because life is hard enough and I don't read books to be reminded of all the wrong things that can happen. I read to escape this and read how even with life's obstacles, there still can be a happy ending. Well if you are looking for that then stop reading after insurgent. In all honesty I could not wait for Allegiant to come out and the movie to come out but after this MASSIVE disappointment, I don's even want to see the movie. It will only anger me even more to know what happens in the end. One can only that Hollywood will step in and change the ending of allegiant to make it better so that the bad guys dont prevail but good does. In the end, I will never buy another Veronica Roth book again. The fact that I not only wasted [...]on a horrible, upsetting book but I also wasted 2 days of my life reading this awful book and I can never get back either!!
