I purchased this unit specifically to keep the internet modem & router powered on during brief power outages (common in my area). Not only does this unit not provide any backup whatsoever now, it also randomly starts "beeping" at times and the only way to stop it is to unplug it completely from the wall (which kills everything since the backup no longer works). I have several Back-UPS Pro 1350s which work flawlessly. This product, however, is pure junk.

It does the job. I was perfectly satisfied with the previous model, but couldn't get a replacement battery. Planned obsolescence?

This should be the first line of the description of this unit. "The battery in the Back-UPS is not user-replaceable. "

Thank you for taking the time to review our BE425M UPS. I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed that the UPS does not have an user replaceable battery in it. We moved to that option because usually it is more cost effect to replace the entire unit instead of just the internal battery. Also with a new UPS you would get a 3 year manufacturer warranty but with replacing just the internal battery you would only get a 2 year manufacturer warranty on the internal battery.

Not sure how it can be considered "green" if one cannot replace the battery.

In the 4 months that I've been using this new product, it has started beeping once a month; the beeping cannot be muted. I have to turn it off, and thus my server gets shut down. It works for another month or so before the beeping starts again, Super Annoying!

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I am sorry to hear that you ran into issues with our unit. If the UPS is beeping there is a few different alarms on this unit. I would check is making sure that the battery connection is secure on the bottom of the UPS. If the beeping is a constant tone there is also a chance that the UPS is becoming overloaded. If this the case the UPS is becoming overloaded because the server is pulling more power than the UPS can support. If neither of these are the case I recommend reaching out to an APCbySchneider support team for further assistance. We would be happy to assist you in resolving any issues with the unit. For fastest service you can click on the bottom in the bottom right hand corner of the web page that says Support Center.
Excellent until the battery dies.

This had about a 5 year useful life - which is excellent. But without a replaceable battery, it becomes a boat anchor. APC said there was no way to bypass the battery alarm and use it strictly as a surge protector. Demands proper recycling. Buy a model that supports replacement batteries.

I keep getting sporadic faults of a constant tone and a blinking (alternating green/red) light. The manual says that means the battery needs to be replaced. I haven't even had this a year and it only has a TV plugged into it.

I owned a few APC UPS backups and was always able to replace the batteries myself. You can't do that with this model. I regret that I missed this important point. I did register it right away and hopefully if the battery dies prematurely, I'll Geta replacement by sending it out for repair.

I have used your UPS for my home computer for many years. Lately, have power interruptions of only a few seconds but it knocks out my cable TV. So, I ordered this unit to keep the primary cable box on during those interruptions.

I bought 2 of these merely to power my mesh network hubs. Virtually no load at all. All was fine until the power actually went out. They both started popping and beeping constantly. They aren't even of any use purely as a surge protector. In fact with the generator running power in the house, you couldn't have it plugged into the wall with nothing else plugged into it. Returning both.

I bought this unit in December 2018. The power was rarely (if ever) out over the past two years but last week the unit began beeping constantly - flashing between red and green. When I looked up what was wrong, APC says the battery is bad and needs to be replaced. Better yet, the end user can't replace the battery. Terrible longevity. Unit barely lasted two years. Stay away and buy something else!

Arrived with a dead battery. I took it out and charged it with a trickle charger. Put it back in. Still getting dead battery indicators. The interior design is a mess. looks like a monkey designed it. Yes, I know I could return it be don't want the hassle. I've been buying APC products for 15 years and this is so disappointing. I threw it in the trash!
