  • A: *Posting a response to the first question in this Q&A list since it attempts to answer multiple questions on this first page including this question* PLEASE ALLOW ME TO CLEAR UP ANY CONFUSION REGARDING THE CASE, THE WIRELESS CASE VERSION, AND THE 1ST GEN / 2ND GEN / AIRPODS PRO DILEMMA: Okay, THIS PRODUCT (Apple AirPods with Charging Case) IS the 2nd Generation AirPods; this DOES NOT mean they are the AirPods Pro, as those are an entirely separate iteration which will likely have its own generations in the future. Next, THIS PRODUCT (Apple AirPods with Charging Case) comes with the charging case shown in the picture. For the AirPods (1st or 2nd gen), the case itself comes in 2 versions: the REGULAR version and the WIRELESS version. NOTE: (VERY IMPORTANT DETAIL MUST BE READ SO NOT TO CONFUSE THE FUNCTIONALITY OF EITHER CASE VERSION): The REGULAR case is still a wireless case (in the sense that you are able to take it with you and have it in your pocket while the AirPods are inside CHARGING FROM THE CASE ITSELF. THE ONE AND ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REGULAR CASE AND WIRELESS CASE is that the REGULAR case must, itself, charge by plugging in a lightning cable to the case. Once the case has reached full battery, YOU CAN DISCONNECT THE CABLE AND TAKE THE CASE ALONG WITH THE AIRPODS ANYWHERE. The AirPods can continuously charge numerous times FROM JUST THE CASE ITSELF, so long as the case continues to hold enough charge. When the case no longer has enough battery to recharge the AirPods, IT IS THEN THAT THE CASE MUST BE PLUGGED IN AGAIN WITH THE LIGHTNING CABLE TO CHARGE IT BACK UP. Now, in contrast, the WIRELESS CASE functions EXACTLY the same as the REGULAR CASE except that it CAN BE CHARGED BY OTHER MEANS, NOT SOLELY A LIGHTNING CABLE. This means, the wireless case itself can be charged WIRELESSLY BY MEANS OF A WIRELESS CHARGING DOCK STATION, ETC. Therefore, AirPods WITH WIRELESS CASE is truly a set of wireless devices; the AirPods AND charging case can fully function without the use of a single cable involved. (except of course, the charging dock itself that is being used to charge the AirPod case wirelessly lol) I hope this achieves the adequate clarification many have desired here. Cheers

Q: are these 2nd or 1st Generation?

submitted by Nanci - 5 years ago
  • A: Cant i pick the color idont want waith i want to buy black

submitted byJua - 5 years ago
  • A: The first generation it has a charging and the 2 generation is wireless charging

submitted byMaria - 5 years ago
  • A: Hey Nanci, so i actually think/know that these are actually the 1st gen only because the 2nd gen have a light not on the inside but on the outside and I want you to know that the regular price of the the 1st gen is 159.99 and the 2nd gen is 169.99 so there is obviously a difference and I just wanted to point that out to you.

submitted byCustomer - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi, Nanci! Regarding your question about the Apple AirPods with Wired Charging Case: These are the 2nd Generation AirPods! If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact MyTGTtech at 877-698-4883 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

  • A: These are 100% Airpods 2. I recently purchased them. There are two different AirPods 2 one with a wireless case ( more expensive) and one with a regular case (which is a little cheaper.) Upon receiving the AirPods, I quickly checked the serial number. Which anyone can do on your iPhone settings and the corresponding serial number was to AirPods-2 Rest assured if you purchase these you are getting Apple AirPods 2- but not the version with the wireless case.

submitted byMelanie - 5 years ago
  • A: They are 2nd generation.

submitted bycourtney - 5 years ago
  • A: Yes they are secong gen

submitted byMakayla - 3 years ago
  • A: they are 2nd gen. 2nd gen with wireless charging has a light on the outside. 2nd gen without wireless charging look just like the 1st gen. I've had both gens and this one is definitely better.

    submitted bybills972a - 4 years ago
  • A: Actually these are 2gen due to the fact that these ones have an H1 chip while the first gen has an W1 chip, both first gen and second gen have the light inside the case if you don't buy wireless charging. While first and second gen wireless cases come with the light on the outside of the case.

submitted byUnknown - 4 years ago

Q: Is this 2nd or 1st Generation ?

submitted by Jeet - 6 years ago
  • A: Actually Expert support is correct. These are indeed second generation AirPods, after doing my own research and checking out the serial number ( which I did) you will see that these are second generation AirPods. The second generation AirPods came out with two different versions one with a wired case which is the one we are speaking about and currently on sale and one with a wireless case. It’s very easy to check out the serial number on your phone once you own them which is exactly what I did, and how I can tell you that these are 100% AirPods second generation. :) Rest assured If you purchase them you are purchasing second generation AirPods. Just keep in mind that these particular ones are not the one with the wireless case. First gen also has a different chip installed and is cheaper.

submitted byMelanie - 5 years ago
  • A: Actually Bri, these are the 2gen airpods due to the fact that if you choose the wireless charging then the light is on the front of the case, while if you bought the non-wireless charging case they would be on the inside. The reason apple did this is to let people who use wireless charging can see what percentage their airpods are at while not having to take the airpods off the charger. while when you charge with a regular lightning cable you can still charge it and look at the percentage while holding it. Also these airpods have the H1 chip which is the newer version as opposed to the W1 chip which was in the first gen airpods. So in conclusion the Target "expert" you say was wrong is actually correct.

submitted byUnknown - 4 years ago
  • A: These are the second generation, the case with the light outside is only present on the wireless cases, on the wired 2nd gen cases they are still on the inside.

submitted byHenry - 5 years ago
  • A: Actually this is the first generation. If you do some research, you will realize that the second generation has a light glowing in front of the 2nd generation so I'm not sure as to how the Target "Expert" Support got that wrong... Hope this helps. :)

submitted byBri - 5 years ago

Q: Are these noise cancelling?

submitted by Rlynn2324 - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi, Rlynn2324! Regarding your question about the Apple AirPods with Charging Case: This model of Airpods do not have active noise cancelling. That is a feature available in the Pro version though. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact MyTGTtech at 877-698-4883 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

  • A: AirPods are not officially noise cancelling. The AirPod Pros and AirPod Max models are officially noise cancelling. I like my AirPods as they seem to be a good balance between some noise reduction and still allowing for some sound, but if you want true/full noise cancelling then these are not the right choice.
