Aspen APN116 Hand Tufted Area Rug - Safavieh

Bought this about 20 months ago before my LO was born. I wanted something that was thick, would show stains super easily and made of natural fibers. This checked all the boxes and I love the pattern! It has a great cushion underfoot and when sitting down. It did start off scratchy and did shed quite a bit as others have noted. However, with consistent vaccuming and just natural tred, the carpet softened up and the shedding got better. I still get quite a bit of wool fibers when I vaccum but its not super visible pre-vaccuming and it doesn't show on pants anymore (it barely did initially). In another year I'm confident it will still be holding up well and just continue to soften up well! Tips for this if you hate vaccuming: buy a cordless vaccum. I detested vaccuming until we got one and now this gets vaccumed on a regular basis no big deal.

I am absolutely in love with this rug. The colors blend so well and it’s made well. I highly recommend it .

I originally purchased this to go in my kitchen, yet it looked great in the hallway to the mud room. The colors bring the space to life.

It's beautiful but not made to actually be used. Threads started popping up a couple weeks into use and now they are popping up everywhere! Just awful quality.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with this rug. It’s beautiful in my home and has a nice thickness. The color name is a little misleading. I think it should be like dark grey rug with olive/rust accent colors. Loses a star because there are missing tassels on one side of the rug (see pictures). One side is perfect (pic with the cat), the other has weird gaps and some pointing in weird directions. This doesn’t bother too much because of the layout of my living room. I agree with others on the smell. I couldn’t open it outside because it’s winter so I managed to open it up in my front stairwell before bringing it into my apartment. It definitely helped get some of the smell out. Now my real beef - it comes with a lot of loose fibers. I’ve gone over it 3 times with my Dyson on max suction. It filled the canister every time. It seems like dust, loose fibers, and maybe glue? So definitely vacuum a lot if you get a rug from this company. I’m pleased. I’d buy another rug.

It was very pretty but stunk half my lower floor up with a musty smell. The company said it would go away and was normal but I just couldn’t. Also, these types of wool rugs with a backing contain latex and glues, which degrade over time which I am not ok with, since that means we inhale them etc. Instead I’ll buy a flat weave with no latex and deal with it not being thick and moving a bit. Those are my two cents:)

Ordered the olive/rust and it's beautiful. the olive color is dark & it's not obvious due to several tones used, not solid colored wool, which gives it dimension and a homespun look. the braided tassels also add handcrafted beauty to this well priced gem. If it arrives with odor, this is from being stored in a humid warehouse, assumption from return address, specifically state of Georgia. This can be remedied by allowing it to dry hanging in a dry, warm place a few days with a generous sprinkling of baking soda on both sides, to then vacuum and the smell will leave with the baking soda that absorbed it. Don't leave outside as wool easily absorbs moisture. Hope this helps! This natural solution is best vs. using some chemical product cover-up.

Thicker than I expected, looks really nice. Might even order a second one! This is supposed to be the olive/rust - it is more blue than the photo but the green does come through
