Vivo-Book GO E1404F for portable radio operations.

This is my third ASUS portable computer. I am an Amateur Radio (HAM radio) Operator. I use a small computer to handle my log keeping. Sometimes I carry my radio gear in a backpack. I hike in several miles and climb thousands of feet up to operate my radio from a high summit. It is important to me is that my computer be small and light-weight, and have a long battery life. I was using an 11.5-inch ASUS L-203M note-book computer, but it was 5 years old and getting tired. The 10 to 12 hours of operating on a single charge had fallen to 7-9 hours. I began searching for a new computer. I couldn't find anyone who made an 11.5-inch replacement. And the smallest ASUS that met my needs was the Vivo-book 14-inch, model E1404F. When I compared it against my old computer it was only a little larger and just slightly heavier. But it did have a larger and brighter screen, 2X the RAM and 4X the solid state drive. No one in my area had one in stock for me to look at. But having previously having two ASUS units that were great, I took a chance and ordered this one. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. One thing that I had to change immediately was getting out of Windows-11 S-MODE. The logging program I use is not a Micro-Soft program and would not load or run when in Win-11 S-Mode. Getting from Win-11 S-Mode to Win-11 Nome Edition was painless and easy. I was then able to easily transfer all my programs and data files over quickly. Everything worked fine. The old L203M was 7.50" (90.00mm) x 11.25" (285.75mm) x 0.75" (19.05mm) and weighed 2 pounds 3 ounces. The new Vivo-Book E1404F is 8.3" (210.82mm) x 12.75" (323.85mm) x 1.0" (25.40mm) and weighs 3 pounds 1 ounce. HOWEVER - the larger and brighter screen along with the greater speed and larger storage are worth the added size and weight. The way ASUS was able to increase the screen size 18% while only increasing the computer size by 9% was by reducing the size of the screen bezel (frame). I have not yet taken my new device portable. That will happen soon enough. The older L203M was sometimes difficult to see in bright sunlight. The E140F also offers a "DARK MODE" that changes the screens to a black background with white text. This is supposed to reduce battery consumption. It may or may not help screen visibility outdoors. I'll be evaluating this closely. All things considered, I believe the Vivo-Bool E1404F is going to meet my needs well.

Fast and efficient. I have no trouble getting it to turn on or load anything. It is durable and well made. Screen size is perfect for taking to work or class.

I am very disappointed. I bought this because it had a backlit keyboard. The model# I got is: E1404FA - BB33. It might be the same model# I ordered but it has a number keypad in the mouse area and no backlit function button. I have extremely poor eyesight and the backlit keyboard was why I bought this.
