About this item
Description
The megahit Attack on Titan anime is back, with Season Three announced for 2018! In this post-apocalytpic sci-fi story, humanity has been devastated by the bizarre, giant humanoids known as the Titans. Little is known about where they came from or why they are bent on consuming mankind. Seemingly unintelligent, they have roamed the world for years, killing everyone they see. For the past century, what's left of man has hidden in a giant, three-walled city. People believe their 50-meter-high walls will protect them from the Titans, but the sudden appearance of an immense Titan is about to change everything. Winner of the 2011 Kodansha Manga Award (Shonen) and nominated for the prestigious Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize for 2012.

I'm completely stoked about this series right now, I highly recommend it to anyone who's a fan of anime and manga. I just read the printed material online all the way to Chapter 45, the latest three chapters just got serialized but haven't been printed in a ninth volume as of yet, volume 11 is next to come into print, after the release of the next chapter I presume! If the other 9 volumes were added to Target's online shop or were in stock at physical locations I would definitely buy them in a heartbeat, and am getting my copies of Vol. 1 and 2 next week. The anime for the show is new and ongoing, slated to be at least 25 episodes if not more, from the outset. Now I won't just mention my desire to buy the series, I'll talk about it too! Anyone who's a fan of post apocalyptic shows. Think Walking Dead. Get the same sense of foreboding and helplessness derived from movies where action heroes are more like action zeroes. Heroism can be connected to martyrdom, only the way people die in this series is horrifying and perhaps a bit squick worthy! Not for the faint of heart, but it doesn't stop there! The art itself isn't just meant to gross out, though it does enter into the uncanny valley on the regular! But is inherently beautiful and captures the emotions and the breakdown of them in awesome ways. The anime does this even better. If you're a fan of MMA fighting, the action scenes that take place later on are reminiscent of them, and the art is very inspired towards that, going for leaner builds by the artist's preference! Locks and holds and things like that are common, it's really cool to see it transfer onto that kind of scale, but it's a plot element that you appreciate really soon! I won't go on too long with this review, I just think that once you start reading, you'll be so scared to turn the next page to be harrowed by the next hopeless chapter, and yet so interested and captured by how interesting it is that you can't help but keep reading. Buy all the books, watch all the anime! It's great! Five stars on everything!
