Enjoy hours of artistic fun on game night with the Azul Board Game. Featuring beautiful Moorish artwork, inspired by the Alhambra palace in Southern Spain, on a board game, your family and friends are sure to love adding to its beauty. Players, in this family game, are required to decorate the walls of the Royal palace of Evora, by placing the correct style and quantity of resin wall tiles without wasting supplies. The player with the most points at the end of the game is declared the winner. Designed by the famous game author Michael Kiesling and released by Plan B Games in 2017 the Azul board game is sure to be a favorite family game on game night. In late 2018, Plan B Games released a second title in the Azul line, Azul: Stained Glass of Sintra followed by a third title in late 2019, Azul: Summer Pavilion.

My boyfriend and I play board games multiple times a week. We were hoping we would love this one and add it into our rotation. We were looking for something that didn’t take as much time or strategy as some of the larger games in our collection but also weren’t as simple as a few quick games we have. I’m not sure if it was just the theme of the game. But it really hasn’t held or grabbed our attention in the way we were hoping for. Might be more for the traditional painting artist type. Or maybe more for people that like collection type games. Just didn’t do it for us.

I enjoy playing this game in all player counts (2 to 4 players). The game can be very competitive at 2 players. The boards feel like they are made of thick cardboard, and the tiles have a nice weight and feel to them. I recommend playing this game on a stable surface. There is an expansion for Azul that provides plastic trays to keep the tiles and score markers in place. The smaller travel version ,Azul mini, is another option that is designed to keep things from shifting around. I personally prefer playing regular size Azul because I like the larger tiles.

My fiancé and I bought this to entertain ourselves after moving while waiting to get our internet set up and we love it! I love the colorful pieces honestly. Once you play the game a couple times it definitely gets easier to strategize and come up with advantageous moves while playing.

First of all, it's so visually pleasing. The tiles and board are so pretty! The game itself is really fun. It's strategic, but not too awfully strategic (like Catan is, for example). One can still really enjoy it without using TOO much brain power. Hahaha
