Q: Did the Coconut Oil make anybody with oily skin break out?? Not sure If the coconut oil is helpful or if they are using it as a fragrance I'm curious...

submitted by SunscreenAddict - 6 years ago
  • A: Hi there! Our Coconut Oil is ultra-moisturizing and can be oily, but it is fragrance free. If you have sensitive skin we recommend whipping it our in the drier months or using it when your skin needs some extra love. Hope this helps and if you have any more questions about it, feel free to reach out to hey@trustthebum.com!

Q: Is this sunscreen reef safe? I don’t see any of the 3 O’s in the ingredients that are banned.

submitted by Mark - 4 years ago
  • A: Hey there! We just wanted to clear the air and let you know that all of our Sunscreen Products throughout the U.S. are reef-friendly and our Mineral Line of sunscreen is completely mineral-based. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us on our contact page :) xo, SB

  • A: I don't want you to be misled by Sunbum as they should not put reef-friendly. It's a catchphrase they use for sales reef-friendly is also not regulated. The best way to help the reefs is by using UPF protection rashguards/leggings and limit your time in the sun. You can find these all over and reuse them over and over again. You can then get better mineral sunscreens as well. This is Sunbum's statement "First things first—what does it mean for a product to be “Reef Friendly” or “Reef Safe”? Well, because there is no agreed upon testing protocol, neither “ReefFriendly” nor “Reef Safe” is currently being defined or regulated by the FDA. The truth is, no one really knows what is 100% “safe” for the reefs. That’s why we choose to reference “Reef Friendly” for our products—to help inform our community that our sunscreens are both Oxybenzone free and Octinoxate free, since these are the two ingredients noted in the research leading to the new regulation."
