Book Synopsis
Long before they're able to talk, babies have a whole lot to say! Widen their world with this delightful modern classic--a must-have for growing families and a perfect baby shower or new-baby gift. With this adorable board book of essential signs, babies and toddlers can easily learn how to communicate their needs, wants, and feelings and even make basic observations with a simple gesture. Studies show that babies who use sign language feel less frustrated, throw fewer tantrums, and often learn to talk more easily. Just point to a sign in the book, say the word while making the sign, and the baby will soon be signing. Communicating a wet diaper or a hungry belly, asking for help or saying all done becomes as easy as waving hello or good-bye. And these are just a few of the thirteen signs inside this small and adorably illustrated board book, perfect for little hands and minds to grasp.About The Author

This was more for us as parents to learn baby signs to teach our little one. The illustrations are cute. However, baby never sought this out and we could've just looked up the signs online to teach him. I don't think the book was necessary.

The sign for dog is wrong, but overall a cute/short book to introduce basic signs to baby and family. Our family uses ASL and was happy to see this book on the registry of and couple of friends who were expecting, but we noticed the sign for dog is not correct.

Sign for water has poor illustration....looks like the sign for color. A tongue sticking out of your mouth is not the sign for dog, rather an action the dog may be doing. The book shows the sign for tiger as the sign for cat......those are actually 2 different signs. The illustration for mom should look like the illustration for dad, but instead it looks like the baby is slapping his own face.

My toddler is speech delayed so we have started ASL so she can try to communicate what she wants/needs. We wanted a board book so it would last and not get destroyed as easily. We have a paperback one that is ASL with many more signs. This is not ASL. If you are using it simply to try and communicate, it would be fine. If you are trying to use strictly ASL, I’d fine something else or use videos. We skip over the ones that aren’t ASL. No other issues with the book, made well.

Signs are basically what's all over the internet and day care so you're not teaching anything new

I purchased this book for my nephew shortly before his first birthday. His mom had already taken a class in ASL and wanted to get in a baby sign class, but the local class didn't make, so this was a substitute for that. He and his parents worked with the book, then it went to school with him for a while, and the teachers learned, as well as the other infants! I cannot put into words how awesome this is when caring for him to have him tell me, start around one year old, what he wanted! It's got all the signs you need to get started with baby signs!
