Barbie in basic black is a winner!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had the help of my assistants (the 6 and 12-year-old girls who live next door) to help me form an opinion of this beautiful doll. As the adult in the room, I loved the hair, the face, and her outfit. Awesome boots!! The fact that she comes with a set of multicultural friends that I have to collect too makes my credit card say "Ouch!" My 6-year-old assistant didn't really notice the doll, but the 12-year-old fell in love! (She's now the current owner.) Something I don't like, as an adult collector, is the appearance of the moveable joints, but the 12-year-old absolutely loved them. She says she can move the doll in more positions with the joints. She can actually play with it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] She is absolutely stunning. My daughter is crazy about her. she is fashion without being too much. She is classy and chic. Her outfit is gorgeous, the shoes are detailed, and the hair color is modern. Her face features and her proportions are perfect. I’m all for the Barbie slogan you can be anything and look like anything but i enjoy a beautiful classy Barbie as well. The fact that the arms and legs are articulated is great , my daughter enjoys making up her own story and being able to move Barbie as she wishes makes the stories more alive.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Barbie is beautiful, it reminds me of the Barbie’s from the 90s and early 2000s when the dolls were fully posable. I think every little girl should have a Barbie collection and this makes a great addition. I 100% recommend buying

I don’t care for the realism of the doll

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The doll overall looks very nice. I like the outfit and the hairstyle on the doll. I do not care for the “joints” at the knees, arms and wrists. I like a more streamlined look for the doll. I know it’s supposed to make her more movable and realistic maybe but I just don’t like the look of it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This doll is so absolutely beatiful and looks high end (well, except for the last part of my review). The black dress and white hair is gorgeous. I also love that is fully poseable. The only thing I didn’t like and the reason I gave it 4 stars is that I would have wished for the fabric of the dress to look higher end, it is just regular cotton so it makes the doll seem ‘cheap’

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First impression, still in box - cute, a little bland. Unboxing is an irritant, there's no tape on the box to hunt down and slice through (cool), just one of those interwoven tabs situations that generally means you can't open it without ripping it, and then you can never close it again should you need/want to (argh). Then there are SO. MANY. clear bands holding the doll in place, easy to deal with, but you missed one. No, you still missed one. Hey, you go---oh, no, there's one more. And then you still have those godawful plastic tags through the back of her head to deal with, hope you don't cut her hair doing that. The new Basics have the new neck peg for easier head swapping and BOY HOWDY IS IT EASY. I was lifting the body to get a better grip on her head, hoping to just yank her from the aforementioned head-tags (it works sometimes), and the body and head just popped free from each other. Luckily, they go back together just as easy. I may be a fan of the new peg. The body is your usual Mad to Move Barbie body (love it). The black dress is simple, but very nice. There is a little bit of tape on the thighs to keep the skirt in place, its very sticky, but scraped off easy enough. Her boots are very interesting, and I was a little worried they might be hard to get on and off, but they're pliable, and the straps are close enough together that putting them back on is almost as easy as removing them. The earrings. I love the style of #2's earrings (simple silver hoops), but they have this hard plastic cone around the peg, I assume to protect her face? Maybe from paint transfer? But it deforms the earring and keeps them from going in all the way, and makes it hard to get the earrings out so you can remove said cone. And now I have warped doll earrings, which are going in the trash. All of this, and I was like, yeah, okay, some issues, but mostly good, but I'm still...just kind of "eh" about her. She's fine. She's here. Whatever. And then, just to see what she'd look like, I took out the side pony. And ooooh. Oh, you guys. Oh, she is so pretty. Just taking her hair down makes such a difference. She is staying. She has a name, now. She deserves a whole frickin' wardrobe. She may even need some other Basics friends.

Not so basic

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Don't let the name "Barbie Basics" fool you. There's nothing basic about her. She looks chic, modern, and timeless. Her black dress is sexy but yet not too revealing. Perfect for clubbing or a night out. Her side ponytail shows she can have fun but also be taken seriously when needed. My daughter loves being able to bend her arms and legs to create a certain look, whether it's having her stand or sit, the Barbie basics can do it all. My daughter will play with her for hours, which is good because it keeps her off her electronics.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Barbie Basics Model 2 offers a gorgeous sculpt adorned with striking hair and make up. As the namesake implies, the clothing and accessories provide a basic and simple base to inspire endless re-styling possibilities. The new neck pegs are a stellar improvement that make swaps infinitely easier and minimize risk. I cannot wait to make Model 2 along with others from this line my own.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m glad that the Barbie basics are back and with the easy to remove head feature. Her blonde hair is very nice along with her dress. I wish the made to move body was more pleasing to look at. I don’t like the exposed joints, especially the odd looking shoulder joint. Also I’m said that Mattel just let their best designer Bill Greening go. He’s had such a great hand in the Barbie basics over the years.

Barbie Basics 2025 Model 2-A Return To Play

5 out of 5 stars
Barbie Basic Model 2 - 26 days ago
originally posted on shop.mattel.com / fisher-price.mattel.com
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] **Barbie Basics Model 2 Review** The Barbie Basics Model 2 comes packaged in a sleek, black box featuring images of the entire doll line and a portrait picture on the side. The packaging is elegant and collector-friendly, ensuring the doll is both displayed beautifully and securely protected. Upon unboxing, the quality of the doll is immediately apparent. Styled impeccably, she’s dressed in a chic little black dress, complete with matching shoes and earrings as shown on the packaging. The earrings are removable, with no peg to secure them in the ear, which makes it easy to swap out accessories for personalized styling. The black dress is crafted from a Lycra-polyester blend, which fits the doll perfectly. It’s fashion-forward, and the stretch fabric is versatile enough to accommodate the various Made to Move body types, offering great potential for customization and play. The doll’s screening is also noteworthy. The makeup appears to be airbrushed rather than a decal, with soft tones that complement her opal hair, styled elegantly in a side ponytail. The attention to detail in the face-up is exceptional and gives her a fresh, modern look. A standout feature of this Barbie is her innovative head swap system, designed for ease of customization. Traditionally, Barbie dolls have a single peg or a peg with an elongated hook, making head removal a bit tricky and requiring heat in some cases. This new design simplifies the process—just a gentle pull, and the head comes off effortlessly. This improvement also allows for seamless play and customization within the Barbie Basics Kit 2 collection. Overall, this doll is a wonderful return to quality, offering both display value and playability right out of the box. I highly recommend the Barbie Basics Model 2 and the entire line for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Shes a fantastic addition to any collection. I am enjoying playing with this doll and adding images I take of her to my picture portfolio.

Hall Review of the Barbie Basic Doll

5 out of 5 stars

originally posted on shop.mattel.com / fisher-price.mattel.com
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife and I was very impressed by the BARBIE BASICS DOLL as more as a collectible Doll for Adults. The Barbie Doll was more of a shadow of someone dressing for Date Night and fun out on the town. The black dress is very sleek and eloquent for a Barbie ready for a night out on the town. Even though it is admired as a collectible for 18 years and older, in my view as a 63 year old male, I was prefer that the dress line would be a little more longer as to not give off that wearing short tight black dress as a sign of seduction or sex appeal. The Barbie doll has always been an idol of both young and older woman growing up as an allure to how a woman should dress. Overall, I am very confidence that the style and variance of this doll will do well as a collectible since we will be adding to our Barbie collection. I highly appreciate the opportunity for Mattel allowing me to give my opinion whether good or bad on this product.

Collector dolls should be sent in a box, not a bag. I had to send mine back for a replacement because boxes were damaged. The dolls are beautiful!

Collectible dolls should not be shipped in a bag instead of a box as the doll box arrived crushed. Will not buy collectible dolls from Target again.
