Wow, this movie was absolute trash. I am here for a monster movie and love the campy classics like jaws, Jurassic park and even the Meg was hilarious but this was just painful to watch. I was genuinely hoping the lion would kill them all about 15 minutes in. I was stupidly excited because Idris Elba, hi! But after watching this, I’m worried about him. The dialogue was painful, the story line was a reach at best and the characters were a nails on a chalkboard experience. They were dumb even on a horror movie standard. I really wanted to like this but even Idris’s beautiful face couldn’t redeem this garbage. It wasn’t campy, it wasn’t fun, it wasn’t scary, and it wasn’t believable. I honestly have no idea what they were going for but I am just going to say they didn’t get there.
