About this item

Highlights

  • PUSH-YOUR-LUCK BLUFFING GAME: This party game involves a little bit of sneakiness and creativity. The aim is to try and convince one player that you know the real answer.
  • STRANGE QUESTIONS, STRANGER ANSWERS: Think you can guess what the Cookie Monster’s first name is? You don’t need to know the correct answer — you just need to be able to spot the fake ones…
  • DON'T GET CAUGHT OUT! Win points by spotting fake answers invented by other players — but watch out. If you accidentally select a real answer, you’ll lose your points and your turn.
  • GREAT FOR BIG GROUPS: Sounds Fishy can be played by 4-8 people, making it perfect for large groups of family and friends.

Description

Sounds Fishy isn't about always knowing the right answer — it's about being able to spot the fake ones. It's like a mix between The Chameleon and Balderdash.

Sounds Fishy is the party game full of strange questions and even stranger answers.
Pick up points by eliminating the fake answers that have been invented by the other players — but be careful! One of them has given you the real answer. Accidentally choose it and you’ll lose all your points and your turn.

Think you can tell which answers sound fishy? You’ll need to think on your feet, get creative and push your luck to win the game where everyone has an answer for you.

This is a fun game to have and play with the family. It’s a game that’s easy enough for young kids age 6 can play as long as they can read or if someone reads it out for them. Only fault is the holder for the card that you have to insert.

It took awhile for my 11 & 12 year olds to figure out how the game works but once they got it, it was so much fun! Our group had players from ages 11-62 and everyone said they would definitely play it again next game night!

Don't ignore the age suggestion on this game 10+. My 9yo and 13yo enjoyed playing, but there were some words used that they didn't know. This sometimes gave away answers in the game. The way the game works, one player reads a quirky trivia question. Other players are randomly given a red fish or a blue fish (there is only one blue fish), and they don't tell anyone what it is. Players go around the table and answer the question. Red fish lie, but they try to come up with convincing lies. Blue fish tell the truth, but they try to make it sound like it's not the correct answer. So, if one of my kids was the blue fish, and the answer included a word that they wouldn't really know or use (apparently my 9yo doesn't know what a fern is), it can give away the fact that they are giving the correct answer. Even with some frustrations though, they keep asking to play it.

This game was a huge hit! Everyone enjoyed trying to trick the questioner. This is an easy game to learn & play with a large or small group. The quality of the game pieces for this game were exceptional! This is a new family favorite. The only suggestion we had would be a 15 second timer to give everyone time to think up their fib to trick the questioner.

We love bluffing mechanics in a game. We bluff in real life, too! This game, played with the right group will be so intense you might just forget it’s a game, like I did! I’m so trusting and our friends are so good that it definitely is hard to tell who’s bluffing. Kudos to this clever game that has already received much play time! Great party gift!

I received this game from Come Around UK in exchange for an honest review, but I'd rate it 5 stars regardless. Fun bluffing game, where everyone knows the answer except for one person, but only one person can give the correct answer. High quality pieces and fun questions! Definitely a good party type game from Big Potato Games!

Its Fishy That You Don't Have This Game

Big Potato has the best games out there. Ever since I bought one of the games (Herd Mentality - such a wonderful game), I have been hooked. I own 75% of all of the games they have produced. This game is another one of their wonderful games. How the game is played is that one person is telling the truth while everyone is making up fake answers. The judge in each round is trying to eliminate the fake answers. The funny thing is that the real answer already sounds abnormal, so it gets you thinking. When I played this with my college friends, we had such a wonderful time. We were laughing so hard at the answers that were stated. You could really tell who was a good liar and who wasn't LOL. This is an amazing game to play because every time you play, it will be different because everyone will give different responses. I recommend you add this to your chart for your next game night. Any big potato game, you know you and your group will have a great time.

Sounds Fishy shines in terms of replayability. The game's fast-paced nature and the element of surprise ensure that no two rounds are ever the same. The more you play, the better you become at reading your opponents and bluffing your way to victory. The game accommodates a wide range of player counts, making it an excellent choice for both intimate gatherings and larger parties. Its quick setup and easy-to-understand rules make it a go-to option for spontaneous game nights.

    Fun physical version of Fibbage

Fun game of quick wit and bluffing. Fairly similar to JackBox Game's Fibbage in physical form. One player reads a trivia card, the answer to which is on the back of the card for other players to see. Red Herrings and one Blue fish of Truth are passed out blindly. Red Herrings will give a false answer while Blue fish gives the correct answer on the card. Whoever read the card then must attempt to pick the red Herrings while leaving the true answer for last. Some answers are much harder to quickly come up with a convincing red herring, especially for more wordy answers.

Big Potato Games does it again! This game is great fun. I know other reviews have likened it to Balderdash, but as someone who’s never played that I can’t speak to if it’s the same. What I can speak to is the hours of laughs and giggles this game has given us, as well as the random facts I now know about the most nonsensical things! This is definitely a game we will keep coming back to.

Good combination of trivia and cards against humanity where you need to figure out who is telling the truth but the lies could be funny too. Wholesome game for the whole family and an appropriate length. You would eventually run out of cards so you can't play this too many times but it's a nice small group party game.
